Chapter 9 – Rare One
[A/N: In this world, no one has a status system. Lucien can see his status only because he was reincarnated.]
Before starting training, Lucien checked his status.
"Status window."

"Close."
Lucien frowned inwardly.
Still an error…
Thinking about it was pointless, so he pushed the thought aside.
Lucien and Aren were now training on their own.
Aren focused on learning aura.
Lucien focused on awakening it.
Lucien wasn't even sure if he could.
In the original story, Lucien never used aura.
He fought mainly with magic but—
There were moments where he wielded a sword—but never aura.
Stop thinking, he told himself.
Just find out.
Lucien trained alone.
He returned to the basics—again and again.
He held his posture until his legs shook.
He moved slowly, resetting his stance with every breath.
Inhale. Reset.
Exhale. Move.
No speed.
No power.
Days passed.
Nothing happened.
So he pushed harder.
Sometimes his chest tightened.
Sometimes pain ran through his arms.
One morning, after hours of training, Lucien wiped his mouth—
blood stained his lips.
He stopped immediately.
He took a long breath.
"This won't come easily," he said.
Unlike Aren, his body resisted.
Still, he continued—carefully.
Each day, he limited himself.
One strike.
One defense.
Stop.
Reset.
No matter how much his body wanted to go further, he held back.
Days turned into more days.
Then, one evening—
While standing still, breathing calmly, something changed.
Not strength.
Not pain.
A quiet weight settled inside him.
Lucien froze.
He didn't chase it.
He didn't move.
He breathed.
The sensation spread gently through his body—
dark, calm, heavy—
like a shadow wrapping around him.
Lucien opened his eyes.
A thin black line traced the edge of his wooden sword.
"…Black?"
A few seconds later, it vanished.
Lucien smiled.
This is getting interesting.
In this world, aura had colors.
Humans could awaken only three types.
First – Yellow Aura
The most common. Almost everyone awakened it.
Second – Blue Aura
Awakened after mastering yellow.
It had two types:
• Light Blue
• Dark Blue
Dark Blue was extremely rare.
Those born with it possessed extraordinary sword talent.
Aren had Dark Blue.
Third – Black Aura
The rarest.
No one had awakened black aura for thousands of years.
No one—no matter how hard they trained.
....
Lucien felt the difference clearly.
His body felt lighter.
Sharper.
He swung his sword several times.
This power…
Then he began control training.
He sat down, eyes closed, focusing inward.
At first—nothing.
Slowly, his body temperature rose.
He sensed the aura and guided it toward the center of his body.
Energy gathered.
Lucien raised his hand.
He didn't force aura into it.
He allowed only a thin layer to form.
Too much—his arm felt heavy.
Too little—it vanished.
He repeated it again and again.
Hand.
Forearm.
Shoulder.
When his breathing broke, the aura scattered.
When his breathing stayed steady, the aura remained.
Lucien stood.
One step forward.
The aura trembled.
He stopped.
Reset posture.
Reset breath.
One step again—slow.
This time, the aura followed him like a shadow.
If he rushed, it broke.
If he relaxed, it stayed.
Lucien lifted his sword.
He didn't coat it.
That would waste aura.
Instead, he kept it inside his body.
He swung once.
At the moment the blade cut the air—
a brief pressure passed through his arms.
Then it vanished.
Lucien smiled.
"It's working."
He sat again—this time, not focusing on aura.
Only breathing.
At first, he felt nothing.
Then—faintly—
a weak but stable presence.
That was the goal.
Aura that existed without effort.
He kept his eyes closed.
When his body relaxed, the aura softened.
When he tensed, it reacted.
He understood then—
Aura was not a tool.
It was part of the body.
Lucien smiled.
He had full control.
He stood and noticed Aren nearby.
"Aren, what are you doing?" Lucien asked.
Aren turned, eyes lighting up.
"Training. Did you awaken your aura?"
"How did you know?" Lucien asked with surprise.
Aren scratched his head.
"I don't know… I just sensed it."
Sense… Lucien thought.
"Well," Aren said excitedly, "let's spar—with aura. I want to show you something."
Lucien nodded.
He wanted to test it too.
They faced each other.
Aren moved first.
Their swords clashed again and again.
Lucien's attacks were calm but heavy.
Each clash pushed Aren back.
Neither used aura.
After many exchanges, Aren grew tired.
He inhaled deeply.
Aura surged into his sword.
He attacked with full power.
Lucien's eyes widened.
At the last moment, Lucien activated his aura.
Aren saw it.
"…Black?"
Lucien blocked.
The pressure vanished.
They stepped back.
Aren's breathing grew ragged.
His aura destabilized.
Lucien attacked then
Aren couldn't block.
His sword fell.
Luicen won then he smiled.
"That was a good attack."
Aren lay on the ground, staring at the sky.
"I lost again… but what was that, Lucien?"
Lucien explained the aura colors.
When he finished—
"So my Dark Blue aura is rare… and yours is even rarer?" Aren said.
"Amazing."
Lucien looked at him.
"And you're struggling with aura control, right?"
Aren nodded with a sheepish smile.
"Then let's go."
"Where?" Aren asked.
"Training," Lucien said, smiling.
Aren exhaled happily.
"Okay."
