Jeff was startled.
He spun around and saw Homelander in a black battle suit standing right behind him. That handsome face carried an infuriating smile, and he looked at him the way someone would look at a rat.
Inside the "Black Overlord" armor, Jeff's expression twisted as he said in a low voice, ["Homelander, why ruin my plan?"]
["Didn't you say you wouldn't interfere in this?"]
Alex chuckled, shook his head lightly, and raised a finger, wagging it, "I think you got it wrong."
"I never said I wouldn't interfere. And even if I had, if I want to go back on my word, if I want to do something, that's my freedom."
He lifted his head. His smile was bright, but his tone was icy, "You don't get to point fingers at me. Got it?"
Jeff burst out laughing, ["I never planned to be your enemy, Homelander."]
["But that doesn't mean I'm afraid of you."]
["It just wasn't time yet."]
["But since you came to my door, I don't mind letting the entire Federation see the myth of Homelander fall tonight!"]
Alex let out a lazy laugh, "Last time someone said the same thing. Want to guess how that ended?"
Jeff's answer was his fist.
His cape flared as the armored man charged at Alex. He accelerated instantly to 300 kilometers per hour, with no buildup at all, reaching top speed in a single burst.
BANG!
The iron fist of the "Black Overlord" struck Alex, sending out several ripples. Alex's head tilted back involuntarily.
'It hit!'
Jeff could not help but laugh loudly. But as he laughed, the sound died in his throat.
He saw Homelander slowly lower his head. Not a single mark on his face. A scornful smile. A wild look in his eyes.
"That's it?"
Alex casually waved his hand, like swatting an annoying mosquito.
BANG!
Jeff was instantly slapped away. Still in his armor, he tumbled uncontrollably through the air, crashing into a shopping mall and shattering countless panes of glass.
Moments later, he shot out from the other side of the mall and landed on a street.
People on the street gasped as Jeff suddenly charged back again.
In a blink, he flew out from the same place he had crashed into earlier, roared, and threw a heavy punch at Alex's face.
Alex turned slightly and reached out, grabbing Jeff's wrist. He smiled, then swung him upward and smashed him down hard.
BANG!
Jeff slammed into the ground. The concrete road formed a shallow but wide crater. Cracks like spiderwebs spread out around it, dense and uneven, stretching several meters.
Then the Jeff pinned to the ground suddenly jolted, pressing out another layer of shock beneath him, causing the road within seven or eight meters to explode into fragments.
A second impact.
Next, Alex grabbed Jeff and swung him left and right, smashing him repeatedly.
Each time Jeff hit the ground, another crater several meters wide and long appeared. When Alex finally stopped, that entire stretch of road had collapsed, exposing the sewer below.
Floating in midair, Alex lifted Jeff. Suddenly Jeff raised his hand, and red laser beams shot from his wrist, blasting against Alex's body.
Alex smiled. The beams were blocked by his bio field and could not harm him at all.
He spun once and hurled Jeff away. The man shot upward, scraping along the outer wall of a building, slamming into it again and again as he climbed higher, finally bouncing above the rooftop and into open air.
Jeff was dizzy from the impacts, but he steadied himself midair and then charged down, punching toward Alex.
Alex drifted back slightly, letting the punch miss. At the same time, he kicked out. The black armor flew sideways, knocking several cars aside.
Jeff clawed at the road with both hands and feet, carving deep grooves before finally stopping.
Then he raised both hands and fired laser beams at Alex.
Alex swept his hand sideways, using his bio field to deflect the beams. The refracted light sliced nearby street lamps and cars in half.
He suddenly flashed forward. So fast that Jeff could not even react before he was slammed away.
The man flew into the air. Just as he stabilized himself, he saw two points of golden light ignite in Homelander's eyes. Two dazzling golden beams tore through the air.
Jeff panicked and flipped his cape forward, spreading it in front of him like a shield.
The heat vision blasted against the black cape. It was rapidly heated and melted, burned through in an instant. The two golden beams then skimmed past the left side of Jeff's faceplate, carving a deep gash into it.
Jeff snapped the cape back. The armor on his shoulder rose and launched a gravity grenade at Alex. But before it could even get close, it was destroyed by a burst of heat vision.
When the explosion's flames in midair faded, Jeff had lost sight of Alex.
"Where is he?"
Jeff frantically searched for Homelander's figure, when a voice came from above his head.
"Where are you looking?"
He jerked his head up.
The sole of a boot rapidly filled his vision.
BANG!
Midair, Jeff was stomped down to the ground by Alex. He lay pressed flat against the pavement, his field of vision squeezed into a narrow strip.
Anger, humiliation, fear, all of it surged into his heart.
Jeff tried to get up, but Alex's foot pressed down on him like the Alps, leaving him unable to move.
Jeff screamed wildly, ["Impossible! That's impossible!"]
["I collected your data!"]
["I upgraded the armor specifically based on your data. That's how the 'Black Overlord' was created!"]
["Speed, strength, defense, even the power of the beams!"]
["I should be above you in all of it!"]
["Why is this happening!"]
["Why is this happening!"]
Alex looked down at the man beneath his foot and let out a short laugh, "Data?"
"You want to use yesterday's data to defeat today's me. Is that even possible?"
Jeff's whole body stiffened.
Then he shouted, ["Homelander, whatever the Federation gave you, I'll give you double."]
["No, triple!"]
["Trust me. Once we get 'Zero' from Arnold, forget the Federation. The whole world will tremble beneath our feet."]
Alex pressed a fist lightly against his mouth and let out a dry chuckle.
"Triple the price?"
"The Federation is one thing."
"But to me, you have a different kind of special meaning."
"I don't think you can afford what I want."
"So," Alex's eyes lit up. Two golden beams shot down toward Jeff's head.
"Wait, 'Zero' actually isn't—"
Jeff seemed about to say something, but before he could finish, Alex's heat vision struck his helmet.
It pierced straight through. The former Olga employee's head was drilled through by the golden beams. When Alex's vision ceased, two smoking holes were left in Jeff's skull.
