But later, I got busy with schoolwork and my family forbade me from going. If I got caught, I'd get a beating, so I learned my lesson. From middle school to high school, I hardly had any opportunities for these kinds of entertainment, and I couldn't even touch a computer, afraid of getting another beating. After graduating and looking for a job, I finally saved up enough to buy a computer, but it kept getting pop-ups and viruses. Thankfully, this Windows system can be easily reinstalled, otherwise I really wouldn't know what to do.
Speaking of which, that character… isn't it Naruto from Naruto? And next to him, is that… Sasuke? And that pink-haired one is Sakura, right? Hmm, looks like I do remember some of it. This anime used to be on TV a lot when I was little, but my family was strict, so I could only watch it sporadically. Well, I have plenty of free time anyway, so I'll check out what this browser game is like.
I clicked on the browser game ad, and then the pop-up window went black with a line of text appearing: "Congratulations! You have won a permanent trial voucher for anime worlds. Please enter the anime world you wish to experience below!"
I typed in the words "Naruto" and clicked "OK". Then a pop-up window appeared with the message: "Please click the button to randomly obtain a special ability."
The interface is even simpler this time; there's just a "Random" box below this text. I clicked it, and the pop-up window actually shook a bit, then a new dialogue appeared: "Congratulations on obtaining a ten-star level special ability: Daily Random Skill Acquisition Technique! Effect: After using this skill, you will randomly acquire a new skill each day, with a high probability that the skill will be selected based on the character's inner desires. Next, please continue to click the Random button."
I get it, it's all a gimmick. They say ten stars are incredibly powerful, but they're just common stuff. Everyone gets what looks like the best thing when they enter the game, but once you're in, it's a game where your combat power is completely distorted, and ten stars are everywhere. I clicked "random" again, and a new dialogue appeared: "Random number: 10! You have obtained 10 skill slots, and the maximum number of skills you can equip simultaneously is 10. Skills can be replaced at any time, and each replacement will enter a cooldown period during which you cannot replace skills. The cooldown period lasts until sunrise the next day. When you obtain your 11th skill, you must replace another skill to officially acquire it."
It's so rudimentary; this browser game really shows no sincerity whatsoever.
"Your permanent Naruto World Experience Voucher has been used. Customer service has automatically designed a new character for you. Click 'Confirm' and enjoy the world of Naruto!"
I clicked "OK," and then, without any warning, I found myself next to ruins. Seriously, it felt like after clicking "OK," my vision blurred, and I was standing beside the ruins. At first, I thought I was going crazy from playing the game, or that I was dreaming, until a nearby carriage caught my attention. I rushed over immediately, intending to ask where I was, but then the man driving the carriage tied me up with rope and threw me into the carriage.
Then I realized I'd been abducted. After that, I stayed in the carriage with other abducted children for three days. During this time, I acquired three skills; I guess this is the effect of what's called a "ten-star level special ability."
Concealment: Allows you to temporarily hide your figure and scent; the duration is tied to your level.
Dieting: Reduces the amount of food needed and makes you less likely to feel hungry; the effect is linked to your level.
Sleep Spell: Can force the opponent into a state of sleep; the success rate decreases when the enemy's level is higher than your own.
I understand now; I've undeniably entered the world of Naruto. Everything advertised in the pop-up browser game ad was true. It's strange, though, though. The author of Naruto is Japanese, and the characters speak Japanese, but I'm hearing Chinese. But that's alright; if the people in this world really spoke Japanese, I wouldn't understand a word.
My special ability is to gain a new skill every day. Although it's said to be random, it's not entirely random. On the first day, all I could think about was escaping, and after using this special ability, I gained a skill called "Stealth".
The next day, because the traffickers didn't give us trafficked children much food, I was hungry the whole time. Unexpectedly, I gained the skill of dieting the next day.
On the third day, I felt I couldn't go on like this and hoped to gain the power to defeat the enemy. As a result, I obtained the skill of the Sleep spell.
In other words, although the skills you acquire are random, the specific type of skill you want depends on what type you want.
Of course, I've tried to put them to sleep many times, but it all failed. The two men guarding the carriage were not only unaffected, but I've never even seen them sleep.

After an unknown amount of time, a woman's voice came from the air: "Give up. The three of you can't beat us. If you surrender, you might be spared."
One of the kidnappers scoffed, "Hmph, you damned Konoha ninjas, do you think what you're doing is justice? If we didn't do this, we'd starve to death. By kidnapping these children, we can get money and save other children in the village affected by famine and war. By stopping us, you're actually persecuting our village's orphans in a roundabout way. What's the difference between you and us!"
"Sigh, it seems we can't communicate anymore. That's a pity."
It seemed the negotiations had broken down, and the explosions grew louder. There was nothing I could do but lie on the ground, curled up and trembling, when I heard the screams of the three kidnappers. It seemed we hadn't won after all.
I cautiously raised my head, and suddenly heard the woman who had spoken earlier shout, "Oh no!" Then, with a deafening roar, the carriage carrying the abducted children exploded. The huge plume of smoke and the blast wave sent me flying, crashing heavily into a tree. Besides the pain, I felt like my spine was probably broken. Opening my eyes, sure enough, only the burning wreckage of the carriage remained. The other children inside…
