Tori's POV
Nicole had been sitting in my room for several minutes now, yet neither of us had managed to say anything meaningful to each other.
The silence wasn't exactly awkward, but it definitely wasn't comfortable either. It felt heavy somehow, like both of us were thinking too much and speaking too little.
"Is this how badly you missed my presence?" I finally broke the silence while shaking my head slightly. "Because you've been here all this time and you haven't said anything useful."
A small smile appeared on his face almost immediately.
"I should be asking you the same thing," he replied while leaning back against the chair. "You've been staring into space since I got here."
I sighed quietly before looking away from him again.
He wasn't wrong.
My thoughts had been everywhere lately.
