Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Circle on Trial

The mask had been unveiled, its silver strands pointing toward Aquarius. The revelation sent shockwaves through the circle. Suspicion hardened into accusation, and the fragile unity of the Zodiacs teetered on collapse.

Leo's golden aura blazed as he stepped forward. "Aquarius wore the mask. That is enough. He betrayed us. Cast him out before he brings more shadows."

Aries scoffed, fire sparking in his eyes. "You condemn too quickly, Leo. Proof is more than a mask. Aquarius must speak before judgment is passed."

Virgo's voice was sharp, precise. "The mask is evidence. Aquarius admits it was his. That alone is betrayal."

Capricorn added, his tone firm. "Duty demands consequence. If we do not punish betrayal, we invite more."

Cancer's voice trembled, but she stood tall. "Duty without compassion is cruelty. We must hear his truth."

Scorpio's eyes burned. "And if his truth is false, then I will be the one to deliver judgment."

Sagittarius strummed his guitar, his melody defiant. "Masks hide, but they also protect. Perhaps Aquarius wore it not to betray, but to test. Condemnation without understanding is folly."

Pisces' voice was soft, pleading. "He sought freedom, not destruction. His heart is not dark. Do not cast him out."

Libra raised her arms, her voice calm but strained. "Balance! We must not fracture further. If Aquarius is guilty, let truth prove it. If he is innocent, let compassion restore him. But suspicion alone cannot guide us."

Aquarius stepped forward, his silver hair shimmering under the lantern light. His voice trembled, yet carried conviction. "I wore the mask, yes. But not to betray. I wanted to see if unity was real, if love could hold us. I did not move the lanterns. I did not call the phantoms."

The circle erupted in whispers—some believing him, others condemning him.

That night, Cancer and Scorpio sat together at the pier, the mask between them.

Cancer whispered, "If Aquarius is innocent, then the true betrayer still hides."

Scorpio's grip tightened on her hand. "Then we will keep searching. The mask is only the beginning. The trial is not yet over."

The stars shimmered faintly, as if listening. The circle was fractured, suspicion spreading like cracks in stone. But at its heart, Cancer and Scorpio stood together—fragile, yet unyielding, determined to uncover the truth and prove that love could withstand even betrayal.
