Chapter 50 - case reopen

Anvi didn't sit back down.

She didn't smile either.

"I want the case reopened," she said plainly. "Officially."

Kashvi's expression didn't shift. "That will drag your name into it too."

"I'm aware."

"You'll be questioned. Cross-examined. Torn apart by media."

"If that's the cost."

Silence.

Kashvi studied her carefully. This wasn't impulse. This wasn't emotion.

This was conviction.

"You think this is justice?" Kashvi asked softly.

"I think the wrong man is in prison," Anvi replied. "And the wrong narrative survived."

Kashvi walked toward the window, looking down at the bay.

"If the case reopens," she said calmly, "it won't stop at Krish."

"I know."

"It will lead to the shooter."

"Yes."

"And then to the one who signaled."

A beat.

Anvi held her gaze. "Yes."

The air between them turned razor thin.

Kashvi turned fully now.

"You're assuming I'll let it get that far."

Anvi didn't flinch. "You can threaten me. You can pressure me. But you can't erase what's already copied."

A faint smile touched Kashvi's lips.

"You learned."

"I had to."

Silence stretched again.

Then Kashvi did something unexpected.

She picked up the pen drive from the table and slipped it into her bag.

"I'll consider it," she said evenly.

Anvi's eyes narrowed. "That's not a yes."

"It's not a no either."

She walked toward the door.

Just before opening it, she paused.

"Be very sure you want this war, Anvi," Kashvi said quietly. "Because once it starts… I don't fight to defend."

She looked back once.

"I finish."

The door opened.

And Anvi was left standing alone—

Unsure whether she had just cornered Kashvi…

Or awakened her.
