Chapter 11 - Ch 11 Ramen

The academy canteen was a battlefield of a different kind.

Trays clattered. Students argued over seats like territorial beasts. Mana flared briefly when someone tried to cut a line and was remindedpolitelythat this was a bad idea.

And at the center of it all sat Ramen.

Five bowls.

Nosix.

Elowen paused just inside the entrance, eyes flicking instinctively to the long table near the windows. She counted again, just to be sure.

"…Is that his third serving?" she muttered.

Across from her, Brunhilda snorted. "Third round. Different thing."

Ramen sat with his back straight, sleeves neatly rolled up, expression calm as ever. He lifted noodles with chopstickswhere he'd even gotten those, no one knewand ate like this was the most normal thing in the world.

No rush.

No gluttony.

Just… efficiency.

Students nearby stared openly now.

"That's him, right?"

"The guy from the exhibition?"

"I heard he eats like that every day."

"How is he not dead?"

Nyx leaned against a pillar, watching with thinly veiled amusement. "He burns it all," she said quietly.

Elowen glanced at her. "Burns what?"

Nyx smiled. "Calories. Stress. Fate. Hard to tell."

---

The nickname had started that morning.

No ceremony. No announcement.

Just a tired second-year collapsing into a chair and groaning, "Why does that guy eat like he's named Ramen?"

Someone laughed.

Someone repeated it.

By lunch, it had stuck.

"Hey, Ramen Bro!"

"Is Ramen joining advanced drills later?"

"Don't sit there that's Ramen's seat!" hahah

Ramen did not react to any of it.

He slurped his noodles, finished a bowl, stacked it neatly, and stood to fetch another.

The canteen parted instinctively.

Not fear.

Expectation.

Seraphina Noctyra

Seraphina watched from a shaded corner, parasol resting against her shoulder.

"Interesting," she murmured.

A noble girl beside her scoffed. "What? The eating?"

"No," Seraphina replied. "The acceptance."

She watched Ramen return to his seat, bowls refilled as if the kitchen itself had decided resistance was pointless.

"They've reduced him," she continued softly. "A nickname. A joke. Something comfortable."

"And that's bad?" the noble asked.

Seraphina smiled faintly. "It's survival."

Ramen finally finished.

All six bowls.

He wiped his hands, stood, and stretched lightlyjust enough to loosen muscles still sore from morning drills.

Brunhilda slid into the seat opposite him without asking. "You're gonna bankrupt the kitchen."

"They'll adapt," Ramen said mildly.

She barked a laugh. "You always talk like the world adjusts to you."

He paused, then smiled. "Does it?"

Brunhilda's laughter cut off a half-second too late.

"…Probably," she admitted.

As Ramen turned to leave, a hush rippled through the canteen.

Not because of him.

Because the air shifted.

Just slightly.

Nyx straightened. Elowen's mana sense prickled. Seraphina's eyes narrowed.

Somewhere deep beneath the academy, something answered.

Ramen stopped mid-step.

The hum in his chest wasn't loudbut it was insistent. A pressure, familiar now. The same pull he'd felt nights ago, sharper this time.

You're getting sloppy, he told himself calmly.

He took another step.

The pressure eased.

Students laughed again. Conversations resumed. Trays clattered.

The moment passed.

But Elowen was watching him now, eyes sharp.

"That wasn't nothing," she said quietly when he passed her.

Ramen glanced at her. "Lunch always does this to me."

She did not smile.

Far below, in a sealed place where light did not belong, a thought finished forming.

> He hides behind a harmless name.

And far awayvery far awayanother presence answered.

Let him.

For now.

Ramen stepped out of the canteen into the sunlight, academy noise fading behind him.

He exhaled once, slow and measured.

"Note to self," he murmured.

"Eat less tomorrow."

The threads trembled.

The world, as always, pretended to laugh.
