Sean's eyes didn't move. The question in front of him foretold immense destruction. What are they thinking? If I answer this wrong, I'm going to go into The Void either way. Sean sat there, wondering if this was cruel and unusual punishment. The question read, "Do you think your Guardian Angel is sexy?"
The legit question had the number one next to it. Think, Sean. Think, what do I do, what do I do? He did what every man would do and pushed the button.
Sean clenched his teeth. He thought he was going to be dropped into some sort of bottomless pit and go to the depths of the hallway to be tortured forever. To his surprise, he saw the test click over to number two. He knew he was in the clear. He tried not to smile. How can I not find my Guardian Angel sexy? She is seven feet tall with a 14-foot wing span and carries a sword which can slice anything in half.
I can do this. Sean looked at the next question. If you could go back in time and assassinate a world leader as a child, would you do it?
Sean wasn't ready for this type of vigorous test. He could feel his palms sweating. They are going to kill me if I would kill it, the baby. I could never kill a child. I mean, I will destroy the adult version of the person, but I would not kill an innocent baby. Maybe I would kill the parents. He saw two bubbles on the computer screen, yes or no. Couldn't they give me a paragraph option? I could explain my thought process.
Sean sat there for a minute. He glanced over at Emery, who danced in a circle taunting Samantha with a silly gesture.
The next two hours of the psychological exam got worse with no end in sight.
Sean noticed one question which referenced the order of the chicken or the egg. Why would they phrase it like that? I always hated that question.
Sean clicked no because he had no idea what it meant. Maybe it was a joke question. Sean looked over at the clock, and he had ten minutes left.
He clicked over to the next question, and it stunned him as much as the first. Do you believe the Goddess Anastasia can bring people back from The Void?
Sean sat there and thought of all the lessons he heard of the goddess and her grace and mercy. He thought maybe the Goddess Anastasia created The Void. She had all the power to do with it as she pleases. If she is all powerful, I see no reason why she couldn't bring someone back.
Sean clicks the yes button as he was suddenly hit in the face with an array of confetti spray out of a contraption from the desk.
"Congratulations," Emery joyfully yelled, and she jumped up into the air in front of Samantha as she landed beside him and clicked the button underneath the chair. "You're free to go now," she cheered. "Results will be given to you soon."
"Can't I know now?" Sean said, looking at the chubby angel with questioning eyes.
"No, you cannot, now leave. You would ruin all the fun. Samantha, help him to move along now. He needs to get to his final test of the day."
Samantha looked slightly annoyed; she had listened to Emery blab on for two hours. Sean did not hear any of it, though, because it seemed as if there was a barrier around him to keep the noise out. Though he could tell by her facial expressions every now and then when he was looking over at her that she wasn't having fun.
Sean stood up and walked over to Samantha, his hand shaking uncontrollably. "My blood sugar is low if that is a thing that happens here," Sean groaned.
Samantha nodded, putting her hands together gently. "It's noon your time, as far as humans are concerned. We should go get lunch."
Those sweet words danced around Sean's ears. He hadn't eaten anything since he arrived for training.
Walking to the other side of the room, Samantha opened the door with Sean trailing behind. He saw they were led to a sort of escalator. Sean looked over to the right, and he saw ads representing different foods for the food court they were headed to.
"Are you okay, Sean?" Samantha inquired. "You appear flustered. What did Emery talk to you about?" Samantha looked back at him as she was quickly walking the stairs.
"You wouldn't understand," he mumbled.
"There are certain things humans can't comprehend about our realm. I can try to explain it to but you would have to spend a lifetime in the library of enchantment. We are complex beings, and I try my best to relate to you. But I'm okay if you don't tell me. We're going to get your favorite meal. And then, after a moment of rest, you will go to your next test, and then you will speak to the council."
Sean looked at a checkpoint when they came up to the food court. It looked like a sort of giant dryer. Samantha walked around it as she pointed toward this contraption Sean had to walk through. They looked like big fans, and when he looked, he was scared.
"What is this?" Sean asked Samantha, "and what is it going to do to me?" Sean saw Samantha's face and knew she was hungry, so he walked toward the machine.
He closed his eyes, and smelt something reminiscent to the spring showers from Earth, and his clothes magically dry from all the sweat and perspiration from before. It felt like euphoria. This feeling soon stopped, and he walked out fresh and clean.
"What was that?" Sean asked.
Samantha put her hand out, beckoning him toward her. "That machine uses your mana to refresh your soul. It's a very intense contraction. It's spiritually powered by the individual who walks through. So, depending on your mana, you may restore a bit or you may not refresh at all. It means you weren't too tired from your test today, so that's a good thing. In essence, it was spiritual deodorant for your semi-physical body. It dried your sweat and cleaned the funk off you."
Sean nodded his head. He understood what the tall angel stated. They rounded the corner and the food court came into view. He was curious what the cuisine was like in this Dreamweaver Society. People of all colors and sizes walked briskly across the massive dining area.
