Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

After Gojo passed out, Choso didn't continue and dropped his domain immediately. He wasn't trying to kill him. Besides, by the time that Choso could react, Yuji was already by Gojo's side with a darkened expression.

Without wasting time, Yuji put his hand on Gojo's face and began using reverse cursed technique. While outputting reverse cursed technique is even more inefficient in cursed energy cost, less effective than using it on oneself, and more difficult, Yuji had enough knowledge of what happened to know how to heal Gojo.

Only a single thing could have caused what had happened to Gojo.

He tried to refresh his technique.

By destroying the part of the brain that holds the cursed technique and healing it with reverse cursed technique, one can bypass the burnout timer that comes with domain-breaking. In this case, Gojo tried to remove the burnout timer to counter Choso's domain.

It was a high-risk move, but he decided to try it out anyway, even if it was a low-stakes fight.

Gojo, at his peak, could barely handle five refreshes before his brain would start giving him permanent damage. Even Yuta claimed that doing it a single time is risky, even for sorcerers on the caliber of special grades.

The brain is an extremely complex organ, making even Satoru Gojo unable to heal it perfectly. With his deteriorating organs, his brain was more sensitive than ever.

Cursed energy reinforcement can work on your organs. It's how people can be sent through buildings without their brains slamming through their skulls and internals exploding from the pressure.

When refreshing your technique, you are basically making your brain an ordinary human brain. With an aged and extremely sensitive brain, refreshing his technique essentially instantly gave him brain damage.

Luckily, Yuji could repair the damage so that Gojo wouldn't have any lasting effects. However, he would still need to rest.

The room was stunned as Gojo, who seemed to be controlling the fight, suddenly passed out and started bleeding like crazy. With their expertise on blood, Choso and Eso could pretty much guess what had happened.

The location suggested it involved the brain.

Even though Gojo wasn't in his prime, the only real changes he had were his physical abilities and the inconveniences of an aging body, like a more sensitive brain and weakened muscles. His control of cursed energy and the output of his techniques could still be used at an extremely high level.

If he wanted to defeat Choso, he could've done it before Choso even had the chance to use Domain Expansion.

Before long, Yuji picked up Gojo in a princess carry and dropped him on the bed that Naoto used earlier. Seeing the concerned Naoto, Yuji spoke. "He'll be fine, just did something really stupid."

Naoto gulped. "What happened to him?" Seeing that this was one of the few times he had witnessed a domain expansion, he had no idea what domain burnout was.

Choso did the honors as he walked over to Naoto. "He destroyed part of his brain. Gojo tried to refresh his technique after his domain ended." Glancing at Gojo, he continued. "It looks like his brain couldn't handle the strain."

Seeing that the mood was killed, and it wasn't a great time to train, Naoto spoke up. "I'd better head out. I haven't seen Mom in a while, and she's probably worried."

Yuji glanced his way but sighed. "That's probably for the best. I'll contact you again after Gojo recovers and we've settled his situation. Dabura is currently a more pressing issue than some of the other Simurians." Eventually, he turned toward Naoto and held out his wrist. "Here's my contact information. Just message me, and I can teleport you here as long as you stay in Japan."

Naoto was taken aback.

He was special enough to warrant attention, but only a select few had Yuji's contact information. His shock only lasted for a second before he reached out his own wrist and transferred contact info.

Now that he had the contact information of the King of Jujutsu, he ended up leaving the Tombs. Not long after that, he finally made his way home.

Bonk

Naoto held his head after Mayumi bonked him. "Ow, I said I was sorry!"

Mayumi put her hands on her hips. "Do you know how much I worried? I was about to mobilize the entire Zenin clan to find you." She turned to the side. "In any case, I'm glad you aren't hurt."

Naoto's eye twitched. 'Better not tell her I got my ass kicked for an entire hour.'

He sighed. "Alright, I'll remember next time." Then, her words registered. "Wait, mobilize the entire Zenin clan?"

Mayumi returned the sigh. "Yeah, I visited Naoki. While I was there, I found out that Jujutsu Headquarters is planning on designating the Zenin clan as curse user territory."

After learning about the situation with the Zenin clan, Mayumi decided to aid them. While she hated the clan, that doesn't mean that she would abandon her brother and niece when they were in danger.

'Everyone else can eat a dick.'

Mai Zenin is currently retired, so she wasn't included in that list.

Naoto gave an awkward smile. "So I guess that whole 'getting a license' thing isn't happening."

Mayumi yawned. "Yeah, that's not happening. In fact, we're going to war." Naoto blinked as if he hadn't just heard that they were going to start a war with what is essentially the Jujutsu government.

As Naohiro predicted, although not specifically related to the licensing, a coup would begin to oppose the major decisions issued by Jujutsu Headquarters if they kept pushing their luck.

Threatening the strongest of the three clans, which contained the two strongest of the new era and an adult Ten Shadows user, was nearing the top of the list of stupid decisions they've made.

If something stands in their way or defies their orders, Jujutsu Headquarters has historically done everything in its power to remove the problem, including removing one of their greatest assets.

In the other timeline, Jujutsu Headquarters didn't stop targeting Gojo. After he was sealed in Shibuya, they immediately deemed anyone attempting to free him a criminal.

Even after they knew Kenjaku was a problem, and Shibuya was destroyed, they still wanted Gojo out of the picture simply because they couldn't control him.

They can't control it? Execute it.

A smirk made its way to Naoto's face. "Actually, I might have a solution to that problem." Seeing Mayumi's confusion, Naoto shook his wrist. "I've got Master Itadori's number."

Mayumi rubbed her forehead. "I suppose Yuji could just blow up Jujutsu Headquarters, but he probably won't help. He purposely keeps out of politics, keeping his distance from Jujutsu society." Her irritation turned into amusement. "So, are you going to call Yuji whenever you have a problem? I might need to start calling you Potential Man #2."

Ignoring her teasing, Naoto shrugged with a smile. "Wouldn't hurt to ask. Why bother fighting with your life on the line when you can end a fight before it even starts?"

Mayumi pondered for a moment and tilted her head to the side after noticing Naoto's shift in attitude. "Hmm, you seem different. Not bad…just happier. I never got to ask you why Yuji took you in."

It was only natural.

In the past, Naoto always had the aura of a tired introvert. He kept to himself and occasionally practiced Jujutsu. Now that everything had happened, he gave off the aura of someone who was no longer shackled by the past.

He gave a helpless smile. "It's a long story."

Mayumi didn't have the ability to read someone's soul, so Naoto had to verbally recount all of the events that happened to him in the past four hours.

Naoto knew he was pretty screwed, despite being a victim. He, Yuji, and Eso were all going to get a verbal thrashing.

First, Mayumi takes him away from the Zenin clan to keep him away from Jujutsu society, and then Yuji starts training him to fight a bunch of aliens after having his brother beat the shit out of him.

Unfortunately for those three, Mayumi inherited something else from Naohiro. She inherited his blunt, no-care, and aggressive attitude, minus the constant brain-rot references that only he could understand.

Even if they were strong, this wouldn't be their Jujutsu Kaisen.
