Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Since You're Pregnant, Then Have the Baby

"You sought me out..." His voice trailed off for a moment. He felt like his own voice had dropped by half.

"What do you want me to do?"

"Who do you want me to kill?"

"Someone from the Righteous Path or an Evil Cultivator?"

Celeste Grant: "..."

'So he's not going to kill me, just someone else instead? Someone always has to die, is that it? Are all Demon Cultivators wired differently from normal people?'

Celeste Grant waved her hand dismissively.

"That won't be necessary."

'She didn't even know how to react anymore.'

Celeste Grant certainly had people she wanted to kill; the thought was with her constantly. Even now, she wanted to draw her sword and go after them, but her strength simply didn't allow for it.

If she went now, she'd just be serving herself up on a platter.

She would take her revenge personally one day.

After all, you couldn't rely on others for everything. There was a saying that was very true: even the strongest backer can crumble. Only by becoming strong herself could she secure her own best interests.

Besides, the female protagonist wasn't someone who could be killed easily. Even if Javier Sinclair went himself, he probably wouldn't be able to kill her. Even if she died, she would likely just come back to life in some other way. Therefore, the only solution was to wear away at her good fortune.

After some thought, she said, "Just find me a place to live and protect my child and me for a while. That will be enough."

Javier Sinclair's face remained cold, and he said nothing.

'This woman. She sought him out, the Archfiend, for such a trivial matter?'

"That's it?"

Celeste Grant nodded.

"Yes, that's it for now. If I need anything else, I'll let you know."

'After all, they barely knew each other. Their only connection was the child. Celeste Grant couldn't ask for too much. The man was a Demon Cultivator, a big shot in the Demonic Sects. She didn't dare push her luck.'

"Fine," Javier Sinclair said. "So where do you want to live? The Bloodfiend Den has eighty-eight main halls and over two thousand courtyards. You can pick one for yourself."

Hearing this,

the Left Protector, who was standing nearby, stepped forward and bowed respectfully. "The Exalted One, Madam is currently with child. This subordinate believes The Deicide Hall would be a good choice. The scenery is pleasant, and it faces south.

Additionally, The Immortal-Slaying Garden is also suitable. It's filled with Spiritual Energy, which is excellent for the pregnancy. Oh, and there's also The Bone-Crusher Hall; it's warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Madam should like it."

'What... what kind of hellholes are these?'

Celeste Grant raised a hand to stop her.

"No, thank you."

The corner of Celeste Grant's mouth twitched.

'The Demonic Sects really are implacable enemies of the Righteous Path. The names of these places certainly make that obvious.'

Staying here would indeed be the safest option. But the place was gloomy and morbid, with skulls, skeletons, and ghoul-like decorations on all the walls and pillars.

'The rooms couldn't be any better.'

She was afraid she'd have nightmares.

'Better not.'

Thinking of this, she spoke up. "I won't stay here. About ten thousand miles south of the Bloodfiend Den, there's a mortal town called Breezewind Town. I plan to stay there for a while, at least until the child is born."

That wasn't the main reason, however. There was an opportunity there she needed to seize, and she had to lie in wait for it.

Celeste Grant had no Spirit Root. She had yet to step onto the path of Cultivation and was still just an ordinary person.

If nothing went wrong, she would awaken a Spirit Root after giving birth—a mutated Ice Spirit Root, at that.

Once she could begin her Cultivation, she would have some ability to protect herself.

Celeste Grant had already made up her mind. She would find a place to hunker down and cultivate. Once she became strong, the first people she would kill would be that damn couple. And even if she couldn't kill them, she would at least steal their opportunities and trip them up.

Isn't that what an evil supporting character was supposed to do? If they wouldn't let her live in peace, she wouldn't let them have an easy time either.

Celeste Grant had transmigrated into a book.

It was an unconventional female-oriented Xianxia novel, and the protagonist of the book was her cousin, Jocelyn Grant.

According to the plot, Jocelyn would go on to live a shamelessly blissful life with her nine Taoist Companions, bearing them over thirty children. As for Celeste Grant, her role was that of the evil supporting character who fought the protagonist over men.

'Bah! A bunch of rejects who loved to flatter themselves, acting like they were some hot commodity everyone was fighting over.'

None of the female protagonist's men were as handsome as the Demon lord right in front of her.

'At least this one isn't blind. He's the one man the protagonist couldn't manage to seduce. Thinking about it that way, she felt a little better.'

Just then, Javier Sinclair, seated above, glanced at her. Seeing her staring at him, he frowned slightly.

'Staring at him so openly... this woman is truly shameless. If it weren't for the fact that she's pregnant, I'd have her eyes gouged out.'

Javier Sinclair's gaze fell on her belly, a complex emotion in his eyes. "Since you're pregnant, then give birth to it."

With hundreds of thousands of disciples under his command in the Bloodfiend Den, could he not afford to raise one small child?

"If you want to live in Breezewind Town, then go. Nerida, make the arrangements for her. Also, I will send men to stand guard nearby. No one will disturb you."

"Thank you."

Celeste Grant let out a sigh of relief.

It seemed he was actually quite reasonable. Other than his verbal threats of death and destruction, he hadn't actually done anything to her.

'Who cares if he's the head of some Demonic Sect? At least his Cultivation is high, and as long as he doesn't harm her and her child, that's all that matters.'

In this Cultivation World, who could clearly distinguish between the Righteous Path and the Demonic Path? Everyone was always fighting and killing, plundering resources at the drop of a hat.

As her mind and body relaxed, a wave of weakness washed over her legs.

She felt dizzy.

Women in the late stages of pregnancy were all like this.

It was the Left Protector who reached out to steady her.

"Madam, are you alright?"

Seated above, Javier Sinclair froze, finally catching the important point.

'Madam?'

"What nonsense are you spouting?"

Celeste Grant nodded and looked at the woman beside her. "You don't have to call me Madam. The Exalted One and I are not married. My name is Celeste Grant. You can just call me Claire."

As she spoke, she glanced at Javier Sinclair. "Don't worry, I won't use this to cling to you."

'After all, she didn't want the Archfiend for a husband either. That time with him was an accident, and the female protagonist had a hand in it too.'

The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She wanted to go and cut her down right now.

Javier Sinclair's gaze remained on her. Seeing her pale face and unsteady posture, he frowned slightly.

'This woman's body is so weak.'

He stood up, and in a flash, he was at her side. Before Celeste Grant could react, she felt her feet leave the ground as he swept her up into his arms.

Her hands instinctively pressed against his chest. When she looked up, she saw the man's profile.

"Wh-what are you doing?"

Celeste Grant was a little surprised.

'He was actually holding her.'

'This was Javier Sinclair, the number one Demon lord of the Cultivation World, a man who would wipe out entire families at the slightest provocation. And now he was holding her.'

'Were pigs starting to fly? Had hell frozen over?'

Javier Sinclair shot her a cold glance.

"If you don't want to end up in the Ten Thousand Souls Banner, talk less."

'This woman is pregnant, yet she's so light? What kind of life has she been living?'

Celeste Grant secretly rolled her eyes at him.

'How could such a handsome man have such a nasty mouth, always threatening to throw people into the Ten Thousand Souls Banner?'

Still, being held by him, she finally relaxed. But in the late stages of pregnancy, she was still a bit short of breath.

The way he was holding her was particularly uncomfortable.

Celeste Grant took a breath and tugged on the sleeve of his arm. "I'm having a little trouble breathing. Don't hold me so tight."

Javier Sinclair stopped in his tracks and looked down at her.

"You have quite a few demands. Do you know who you're talking to?"

Celeste Grant shrank back and said nothing.

Javier Sinclair's face was cold as he glanced at her. He looked thoroughly disgusted, but he still loosened his grip a little.

He carried her out of the main hall, and a giant sword wreathed in black energy flew out from a hall on the other side. Javier Sinclair leaped onto the sword, still holding her.

WHOOSH.

He flew off with her in the direction of the Breezewind Town she had mentioned.

The wind was too strong, and his Sword Control was too fast. Celeste Grant couldn't take it; her vision went black, and she fainted.

'This is killing me!'

'This guy was sent here just to be the bane of her existence!'
