Celeste Grant glanced at them. "I'm alright," she said, "but there's a dull ache in my stomach. I think I'm going into labor."
'It wasn't a 'think' so much as a certainty.' She'd given birth once before; there was no mistaking the feeling.
"She's going into labor."
Hearing this, Pip's expression grew tense. She hurried out and shouted.
"Someone, the Lady is in labor!"
"Send someone to inform the elders."
"Oh, right! Have someone inform The Exalted One!"
The words had barely left her lips when she felt a gust of wind rush past. Looking up, she saw the figure of The Exalted One, clad in black robes, already standing inside the bedchamber.
"Greetings, Exalted One."
"This is no time for formalities! The Lady is what's important. Do what you need to do. Quickly!"
"Yes, Exalted One."
In the time it took to speak, Javier Sinclair was already by Celeste Grant's side. He sat down and took her hand. "My wife, how are you feeling? Is it very painful?"
