To enslave a race, one must erase their civilization, destroy their faith, rewrite their history, and replace their language. One must make them forget their former glory, then use the harshest methods to shatter their pride as sentient beings, forcing them to kneel and wholeheartedly believe they are nothing more than slaves to others.
But such enslavement is inherently flawed. For no matter how much is erased, destroyed, rewritten, or replaced, as long as the smallest crack or opportunity remains, someone will inevitably rediscover their race's dignity and pride from forgotten histories or word-of-mouth legends. And then, they will raise the banner of rebellion.
This is the will branded into a civilization's very bloodline, and it is far simpler to destroy it completely than to enslave it perfectly.
