Faye Vaughn filled the tub with hot water and sank in for a soak.
She was frozen to the bone. The water enveloped her body, sending ripples across the surface.
After soaking for a while, she started to feel drowsy.
When Wyatt Hawthorne came in, she had slid down so far that the water was about to submerge her completely.
"Are you trying to kill yourself to atone for your sins?"
The man's strong, powerful arm wrapped around her waist and hauled her out of the water.
Faye Vaughn groggily came to.
Soaking wet, she mumbled, "What? Do I have to kill myself to atone before you'll calm down?"
Wyatt Hawthorne's tone was cold. "Stand steady. Put on your bathrobe."
Faye Vaughn obediently did as she was told.
Wyatt Hawthorne handed her a hairdryer. "Dry your hair."
"Oh."
Faye Vaughn dutifully turned on the hairdryer and began to dry her hair.
Perhaps it was due to the sudden shift from cold to hot, but she couldn't stop sneezing.
Wyatt Hawthorne frowned from beside her.
