Faye Vaughn gritted her teeth and pushed a wheelchair over for Liam Linden. After helping him sit down, she took him into the emergency room.
'Saving a life was more important.'
Faye Vaughn waited outside the emergency room for over half an hour.
A doctor came out and asked, "Who is the family of the patient who was just brought in?"
Faye Vaughn stepped forward and asked anxiously, "How is he?"
The doctor said, "We've treated the wound on his head. He's running a high fever of 104 degrees. It's likely pneumonia, but we'll have to wait for the reports to be sure. You should go pay his bill and arrange for him to be admitted for the night."
Faye Vaughn took the slip and hurried off to pay the fees.
Then came the wait for the various test results.
Liam Linden's fever was so severe, yet he had completely disregarded his health. 'He probably never intended to come to the hospital at all,' she thought.
'Or even spend money on fever-reducing medication.'
