Faye Vaughn said angrily, "You need to follow your patron's schedule. Your patron requires your services tomorrow night."
Wyatt Hawthorne replied unhurriedly, "I have a dinner engagement tomorrow night. It won't be convenient to service my patron."
Faye Vaughn's voice was soft and sweet, yet utterly brazen. "I don't care. I'm the one paying, so I'm the boss. If my canary won't listen, I'll just have to get a new one."
Wyatt Hawthorne asked, "And who would you replace me with?"
Faye Vaughn hummed thoughtfully. "Maybe some young heartthrobs? I figure ten million could get me two of them. You are getting on in years, after all, which puts you at a disadvantage on the market. The price I'm paying you is already above the going rate."
She sounded completely serious.
Wyatt Hawthorne scoffed. "And where did you find these heartthrobs you've got your eye on?"
