Faye Vaughn felt groggy and utterly exhausted. Unable to stay awake any longer, she slumped over in her seat and slowly drifted off to sleep.
Even after the IV drip was finished, she didn't wake up.
The bodyguard behind Wyatt Hawthorne stepped forward and reported in a low voice, "We haven't found Liam Linden's whereabouts yet. He's highly skilled at counter-surveillance."
Wyatt Hawthorne bent down and scooped Faye Vaughn up, adjusting her position so she could rest comfortably in his arms. "Keep searching," he said coolly. "Expand the search area."
The bodyguard assented and withdrew.
Wyatt Hawthorne carried Faye Vaughn out of the hospital and into the car.
In a dark corner of the hospital stood a tall, slender figure. He was shrouded by the night, melting into the shadows, almost impossible to notice.
He watched as Faye Vaughn was carried into the car, watched as it pulled out of its parking space and sped away.
