A ripple of light shimmered, parting layer after layer of phantoms as spring water gushed forth.
The underground spring formed a pool. A mysterious aura flowed across its surface, and occasionally, two-finger-wide Spirit Fish would leap from the water.
A round, roly-poly, black-and-white Bear Beast lay clumsily by the edge of the pool. Its paw slapped down fiercely at a Spirit Fish, only to find nothing but a splash of clear water. The fish it had imagined catching turned into glittering, silvery fragments on the waves.
The black-and-white Bear Beast retracted its paw and foolishly held it up before its eyes, wiggling it. It then gave its own paw an adorable, silly bite, completely unable to understand how a perfectly good Spirit Fish had turned into water brimming with Spiritual Qi the moment it was in its grasp.
"Genggeng, stop fooling around. Go back to your bamboo forest!"
