「Within the Sheng residence.」
Ning Fang had finally managed to coax her two daughters to sleep.
She carried Yue'er back to her room, and when she returned, she saw Sheng Xin at her doorway.
Although Nansha City was scorching during the day, the nights were bone-chilling. Right now, one would feel the biting cold even while wearing a fox-fur cloak.
Yet Sheng Xin was still in the thin clothes he had worn during the day.
Ning Fang stood before Sheng Xin and said, "Go back to your room."
Sheng Xin huddled in the doorway. "No, I can't sleep at night if I don't see you. Fang'er, just let me sit at your door and fall asleep here!"
As he spoke, Sheng Xin blew on his hands to warm them. Seeing him like this, Ning Fang felt truly helpless.
Back then, Ning Fang had never wanted to marry. She only wanted to protect her sisters, to protect Yunyun, and would have been fine living in the village unmarried for the rest of her life.
