Renee Jennings and Sawyer drove to the ecological farm together.
She had called Kyle Morgan ahead of time, and just as the car stopped, he was walking out.
He brought the little mouse, Jerry, out from the car, cradling him in his palm as he handed him to Renee.
"Thank you." Renee took the little mouse, Jerry, wrapping him in her jacket. "How are things on your end?"
Kyle Morgan said, "Don't worry, we've pretty much handled it."
"Okay." Renee nodded. "I'll take Jerry to the vet first then."
"Alright." Kyle Morgan looked at Sawyer. "You go with Renee."
"Got it." Sawyer agreed. "You guys be safe."
The nearest veterinary hospital was seventeen kilometers away.
The whole way there, Renee comforted the little mouse. "Little Jerry, does it hurt?"
The little mouse, Jerry, replied, "It hurts a little... but I can bear it."
Renee furrowed her brow and said softly, "Don't be scared. We're almost at the vet's."
Sawyer sped up a little.
