After comforting Shen Nian, Lu Cheng turned back to the receptionist.
"Can you announce us now?"
"Did you not understand what I said…?"
The receptionist, certain the couple would leave in disgrace, didn't spare Shen Nian and Lu Cheng another glance. Although she'd thought the man was handsome, what good were looks? 'He's just a pauper, not worth a second glance!'
And so, the receptionist just wanted to get rid of them quickly before they interfered with her work. Not that she was particularly dedicated to her job—it was just an ordinary position, after all. But it was a great way to meet people, and she was counting on landing a rich husband here!
So when she realized they still hadn't left after she'd been so blunt, the receptionist was starting to get genuinely annoyed.
However, she was mid-sentence when she saw what Lu Cheng was holding. The receptionist's mouth snapped shut.
