The smug look on Zane Jennings's face wouldn't fade, and his eyes were shining brightly, but his breath came out heavy. "Dr. Lowell, you're tickling me."
A flush rose to her face. She hurriedly looked away, and the hand on his waist felt like it had been scalded as she quickly pulled it back. "This isn't 'touching'!"
He didn't reply.
Zane Jennings's gaze rested on Erin Lowell. She had changed her clothes, now wearing a short woolen coat over a black, low-collared sweater. The dark colors complemented her fair complexion.
Erin Lowell brought over the gauze, her movements faltering for a moment as she stared at his wound.
'How strange.' She was a doctor; she'd never once cared about the physical distinction between men and women. 'This is the first time I've actually felt timid about touching a patient.'
