"Oh dear, you just got back. Why am I keeping you here talking about all this?" The old woman said, annoyed with herself. "Hurry inside and lie down for a bit. I'll go make you some food." With that, she trotted off toward the kitchen.
A thought crossed Yuan Si's mind, and she heard the old woman let out a yelp from the kitchen. Then, the sound of her mother's distinctive footsteps rang out once more.
"Dear, the kitchen… in the kitchen… are those… are they…" The old woman's voice was a mix of shock and delight.
"That's right. My master gave all that to our family." Yuan Si nodded calmly. 'I was the one who put it all there, so of course I'm calm.'
"Oh, my heavens! He's a true saint." The old woman scurried away again.
Yuan Si followed slowly behind. At the kitchen doorway, she saw her mother wandering around the room, a leg of lamb in her hand.
"Mom, my master said we should eat this for now. When we're about to run out, he'll send me more."
