And so, Li Mubo and his wife moved to the county with their son, while the old lady continued to live in Li Family Village with her daughter.
Li Mubo still had a bit of a conscience. He would return to Li Family Village once a month for no other reason than to check on his old mother. At the end of the year, he would give her thirty yuan as her support money for the year.
The old lady's attitude toward Li Mubo was quite interesting. If he came, she would open the door. If he stayed, she would cook for him. If he gave her money, she would accept it without a second thought. As for her daughter-in-law and grandson in the county, she never mentioned them. Even when Li Mubo brought them up, she acted as if she hadn't heard a thing.
