'How could this possibly not be an epidemic!'
Zhao Qing's brow furrowed. She asked nervously, "My Lady, has the illness addled your mind?"
Shen Qing looked at her with amusement. Just as she was about to speak, Divine Doctor Lu, who was standing nearby, suddenly jumped to his feet. "I remember!" he exclaimed. "I remember now!
I saw this very same affliction in a small village ten years ago!
Everyone in the entire village suffered from the same symptoms as the patients now: vomiting, diarrhea, and sharp, twisting pains in their stomachs.
Later, I discovered they had fallen ill from eating grain grown in their own fields! I wasn't sure of the specific cause, but when I brought some of the patients to the city for treatment, they improved quickly! Meanwhile, the patients back in the village never recovered, even though they were taking the exact same medicine. That's when I suspected the grain in the village was the cause!"
Zhao Qing was stunned.
