Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Strange Family

After leaving school, Zoe Pierce finally relaxed her shoulders once she was certain she was completely alone.

She hadn't expected to go through such an intense situation on her very first day back at school.

It was clear that Aaron Xavier and his friends had a terrible attitude toward her, but she didn't dare say anything.

After all, the memory of Damien Pierce telling her just last night to seduce them was still fresh in her mind.

That's why she felt a strange sense of guilt when she saw them.

To this day, she still found it hard to believe that the original body's brother would actually ask her to do something like that.

That's right, Zoe Pierce had transmigrated. She didn't know why, only that she had ended up in a world with six genders.

Alpha, Beta, Omega—a world she'd only ever read about in novels had somehow become her reality.

The original owner of this body was an Omega, so upon transmigration, she too became a female Omega.

Zoe Pierce breathed a sigh of relief upon discovering she hadn't grown any strange new organs. She also found it a huge coincidence that her name was also Zoe Pierce.

What's more, for some unknown reason, ever since she woke up in this body, Zoe Pierce had been diagnosed with a pheromone disorder.

The pheromones that every Omega should have were almost nonexistent in Zoe Pierce. Her own pheromones were gone. And while she could still smell the pheromones of Alphas, her glands didn't react in the slightest.

She used amnesia as an excuse, and it took a long time for her to adapt before she could truly accept that she was in a new world.

At first, she wasn't sad about it. In her original world, Zoe Pierce had no family or friends. But here, she had a kind, loving brother.

But that idealized image was completely shattered last night.

Damien Pierce's words from last night had been a harsh slap in the face for Zoe.

For a moment, she couldn't tell whether Damien Pierce was taking his anger about their parents out on her, or if he truly intended to sell her off to help the Pierce Family overcome their crisis.

Someone was supposed to pick her up after school, but because of all this, Zoe Pierce had refused the ride. She wanted to wander around and learn more about this world.

Damien Pierce had been worried at first, but then he remembered that Zoe currently had no pheromones and agreed. After all, no one would be aroused by an Omega with no pheromones.

Having secured a moment of freedom, Zoe Pierce rode the hover-train, taking in the sights. Once she'd had her fill, she picked a stop, got off, and started walking home.

There was a corner up ahead. A hazy feeling came over her, and Zoe Pierce subconsciously stopped in her tracks.

With a screech of sudden brakes, a Hovercar came to a halt. The window rolled down, and an Alpha peered out. He spotted Zoe Pierce standing at least three meters away and frowned. "Strange. Why would the car stop when she's so far away?"

Zoe Pierce froze for a second. She watched the window roll back up before the Hovercar sped away.

She placed a hand over her racing heart and had a sudden realization. 'That must have been my spiritual power. My spiritual power was warning me.'

'It was subconsciously warning me of danger, telling me to stop.'

'And it seems that Alpha didn't notice my spiritual power at all.'

Standing to the side, Zoe Pierce couldn't resist experimenting. When she enveloped herself in her spiritual power, it seemed to diminish her presence. But when she projected it outward, it was like having an extra eye, allowing her to perceive things much farther away.

She hurried home without a moment's delay.

The Pierce Family estate was located in a villa district. Zoe Pierce chose not to take a driverless Hovercar directly to the house, instead having it drop her off nearby so she could walk the rest of the way.

As she walked, she probed ahead with her spiritual power.

"Is the old mansion in Oakhaven taken care of?"

It was Damien Pierce's voice.

"It's been handled. I guarantee the Young Miss won't suspect a thing when she moves in." Zoe Pierce didn't recognize the speaker's voice.

Almost instantly, Zoe Pierce shrouded herself in a layer of spiritual power. She found a pillar, her slender frame disappearing behind it with ease.

Peeking out, she saw two men standing and talking in the middle of a flower garden.

"Did you find any ledgers?" Damien Pierce asked.

The man shook his head. "No. We've already searched the Young Miss's room and the Master and Madam's room."

"Keep searching. Go through the ruins over there, too." From the side, Damien Pierce's expression was unnervingly grim. "Zoe Pierce mentioned a ledger to me before. We have to find it before she remembers anything."

"Yes," the man answered quietly.

Damien Pierce frowned and waved him away. "That's enough. You should go. And don't come around for a while."

Once the man had left on the hover-train, Damien Pierce sat alone on a bench in the center of the garden, lost in thought. After a long moment, he glanced at the time, his brow knitting into a deep frown.

"Mrs. Chambers!" he called out.

A middle-aged woman quickly trotted out from the villa.

Zoe Pierce recognized her. Damien had told her this was Mrs. Chambers, the Beta servant who had raised her since she was a child.

"Bring me my Intelligent Brain. Why isn't the Young Miss back yet?"

A sense of unease washed over Zoe Pierce. Watching Mrs. Chambers go to fetch Damien's Intelligent Brain, she quickly retraced her steps to the main gate, getting ready to act as if she had just gotten back.

She had only taken a few steps when, as expected, she saw Mrs. Chambers hand a button-shaped device, no bigger than a cherry, to Damien Pierce. It was his Intelligent Brain.

A blue screen materialized in the air. Zoe saw a yellow dot suddenly appear on the otherwise pale blue display. The graphics shifted to show a scaled-down map of the area.

Damien's Intelligent Brain was tracking her location.

Zoe Pierce's face went white. Before Damien could make his next move…

Suddenly, a piercing pain shot through her head, as if she were being stabbed with needles. She stumbled forward a few steps, her face pale, and called out, "Brother."

The next moment, the world spun. An intense wave of vertigo washed over her, and before she could even process it, her vision blurred and she collapsed heavily onto the ground.

She had a bizarre, fantastical dream.

The dream unfolded like a fast-moving film reel.

It started with her own birth. She was wailing, but her eyes didn't look like those of a normal newborn.

Everything after that was a blur. She saw a young Damien Pierce's face, and the faces of her parents.

She saw the family of four, all smiles for a photograph. But in the next instant, she and Damien were arguing. Her ears filled with white noise, and she couldn't make out what they were saying to each other.

An immense weight, like a giant stone, crushed her chest, causing unbearable pain.

When Zoe Pierce regained consciousness, tears were already streaming from the corners of her eyes.

"Zoe, you're awake? Why are you crying?"

An anxious voice reached her ears. Zoe Pierce looked up, dazed, and met Damien Pierce's worried gaze.

She reached up to wipe her face and saw the back of her hand was indeed wet with glistening tears.

Her chest still ached with a dull, heavy pain, and the tears kept coming. "I dreamed about Mom and Dad..."

She found it strange. 'These should be the original owner's memories, but they feel startlingly familiar, as if that person… was me.'

A bold thought suddenly struck Zoe Pierce.

'Could it be… I transmigrated at birth?'

'Why else would I have had such a mature expression as a newborn? And why did this dream hurt so much?'

'As if they were my real parents.'

'And Damien… is he my real brother, then?'

Damien Pierce's expression changed in an instant. His eyes took on a scrutinizing glint, and his voice dropped. "Zoe, you remember now?"
