Hearing what he said, Jane Sterling decided not to argue. She simply slung her bag over her shoulder, turned, and got out of the car.
After she got out, the driver, looking as if he'd seen a ghost, slammed on the gas and sped away before she could even close the door properly.
'It seems the nearby villagers are truly terrified of this Mercy Orphanage,' she thought.
Jane Sterling stood at the corner of the street and looked around.
The area did feel a bit like the countryside, and it was sparsely populated.
But the orphanage's location was extremely peculiar.
It was located down an alley, surrounded by tall, dilapidated-looking earthen walls.
With her bag on her back, Jane Sterling finally understood why the orphanage hadn't been able to hire anyone for so long.
'A haunted place... No matter how much they pay, you'd have to be alive to spend it.'
Jane Sterling slowly walked forward into the alley, feeling the air grow increasingly chilly.
