Darkness surrounded her. The sky above was devoid of sun, moon, or stars.
It was utterly silent.
Wen Ying kicked at the ground. A small stone flew out, making a faint sound.
She closed her eyes. By the time she opened them again, Wen Ying had already adjusted to the darkness.
"Kong Jian, where are you?"
Wen Ying called out Kong Jian's name tentatively, but besides her own voice, there was no other sound.
The echo of her voice seemed to tell Wen Ying...
...that she had arrived in a strange, somewhat bizarre place.
'Has the space between people been cut off?'

There was nothing around her but darkness. No buildings, no plants or flowers, no sounds.
Wen Ying took out her phone. Even though she could see now, she still preferred a bit more light.
She turned on her phone's flashlight, and the current space was laid bare before her.
Darkness. Spreading darkness.
A darkness that seemed bottomless.
