Later, the female lead went off to university by herself. Then, during a study abroad program, she was placed at the male lead's school as an exchange student. The two reunited, resolved their past misunderstandings, and in the end, the destined lovers found their happily ever after.
The plot wasn't particularly novel, but the character development was excellent. The entire show had a very positive energy, depicting the friendships, family bonds, and romance of life without any clichéd drama like miscarriages, suicides, or best friends turning on each other.
It used a wholesome, refreshing style to depict the burgeoning feelings of adolescence and the minor clashes with friends and family. It really struck a chord with viewers, which was why Chu Yao loved the show so much.
Chu Yao also loved the show's title—"The Best Time to Meet You".
Chu Yao prepared earnestly to join the cast. Shan Wei didn't disturb her, as she had other artists to manage.
Just three days before Chu Yao was scheduled to join the cast, bombshell news rocked the entertainment industry: the acquisition of Jiaxing Entertainment by CY Media was officially announced.
A photo of CY Media's boss, Cheng Yu, was plastered across the front-page headlines of the entertainment news, creating a massive buzz.
When a reporter interviewed him about why CY Media was acquiring Jiaxing Entertainment, Boss Cheng's explanation was seen as deliberately cryptic.
"It was the product of a whim."
"Could you explain what you mean by that?"
"A whim is a whim."
Cheng Yu looked at the reporter who'd asked the question, his expression a mask of sincerity. He even gave them a wink, his face screaming, 'See? I'm being totally sincere'.
The reporter: "..."
Utterly baffled by Cheng Yu's interview, the reporters collectively put him on the front page.
Meanwhile, the man himself, faced with reports that everyone assumed were a bluff, sighed and shook his head. "Tsk, tsk. Look at this. The one rare time I tell the truth, and nobody believes me. What happened to the trust between people? Is there any hope for this society?"
Cheng Yu sat on a plush, European-style sofa in the villa, holding today's entertainment magazine. His gaze, however, was fixed with a smile on the man standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows.
His tall, lean figure, seen from behind, seemed utterly unattainable.
But Cheng Yu couldn't care less about that. He and Lu Xize had known each other since they were in the womb. Even if the entire world thought Lu Xize was unattainable, Cheng Yu would never feel that way.
After staring at Lu Xize's back for a couple of seconds, Cheng Yu tapped his fingers on his knee and leaned back languidly. "Ah Ze, I have to say, your efficiency is really slipping. How long have you been back now? And you still haven't landed the girl."
The man by the floor-to-ceiling windows didn't react at all. Cheng Yu shifted position, his voice growing even more indolent. "Buddy, let me tell you something. There are three steps to winning a girl over: first, hug her; second, kiss her; third, pounce on her. Works like a charm every time. By then, she won't leave even if you try to kick her out."
Those words finally made the man who had been standing like a statue move. Lu Xize turned, his gaze landing nonchalantly on Cheng Yu. "So experienced? Looks like Auntie can finally rest easy."
"...Huh? Who was that just now? Damn, they're even imitating my voice."
Lu Xize calmly watched Cheng Yu spout nonsense with a completely straight face.
Cheng Yu let out a dry laugh. He had just been joking around. It was the first time in his life he had ever seen Lu Xize get put on the back foot, so of course he had to tease him about it. But the guy had just casually lobbed the comment right back at him.
Cheng Yu grumbled, "Ah Ze, that's a low blow. You know my mom is obsessed with me bringing a daughter-in-law home."
The corner of Lu Xize's mouth twitched. He turned his gaze away and said nothing more.
