Lu Xize didn't reach for his phone, but Chu Yao still noticed him place a hand under the coffee table, his gaze shifting slightly.
The movement was quick, just for an instant. Anyone not watching Lu Xize as closely as Chu Yao would have missed it.
But Chu Yao had no idea what Lu Xize meant by it. She just saw that the two of them were still playing calmly.
Chu Yao wasn't truly bothered by it, so she didn't say anything more.
After a long while, the aroma of food drifted from the kitchen. The housekeeper's meal was nearly ready, and she brought the final soup to the table.
Over at the game, Chu Zhen Dong placed his final stone. A change came over Lu Xize's face as he chuckled. "Uncle Chu, your skill at Go is as sharp as ever. I graciously admit defeat."
Chu Zhen Dong just smiled and said nothing. Chu Yao gave Lu Xize a playful wink, and Lu Xize calmly returned her gaze. They had a tacit understanding.
