"Is something wrong, sweetheart?" His warm, commanding baritone broke the quiet that had settled inside the luxury car. "You seem... unusually distracted. What's weighing on your mind?"
Slowly, she turned her head toward him. Her bright eyes met the tyrant's searching gaze, but she deliberately softened her expression, carefully concealing the storm of thoughts raging beneath her composed exterior.
"I'll tell you another time..." she murmured quietly. "I'm just... really exhausted today."
Reluctant to press the issue, Raymond chose not to pursue it any further. The luxury vehicle continued gliding smoothly through the quiet streets until it reached the entrance to her private estate. Just before the car rolled through the gates, however, her slender fingers gently gestured for him to stop.
"I think it's better if I get out here."
A faint crease appeared between his brows as he glanced toward the estate before looking back at her.
"Why?"
