Chapter 63 - 63 – Mystic mana

On the way to Makura's world, Tundra had begun experimenting with lifeforce, seeing if he could use it in any way.

Lifeforce didn't want to move, constantly trying to return to his body.

Even though Tundra had an immense amount of lifeforce, he hated the idea of spending years of his life, so he only took tiny, insignificant bits to test its uses.

And with his lifeforce, he learned that he could amplify his ki by burning it.

But what was truly interesting was when he used his lifeforce with mana. The mana had gained a mystic quality to it.

Trying to transmute something with this mana wasn't something Tundra could do, either because he lacked the skills or because it was simply impossible. Tundra did not know.

But what did work was enchanting something. At first, he simply used one of the metal trays Cherry loved.

It was harder than usual. For some reason, his will had less effect than it usually did. He couldn't enchant anything specific. It was interesting, but he already expected there to be something unique.

Tundra enchanted the tray with the aim to make it better, but what "better" entailed was not what he had expected.

The tray looked smoother. It felt more solid and rigid, but most importantly, it felt tougher, and it didn't accept any more of that "mystical" mana.

Giving the "better" tray to one of the scientists on the ship to examine it, much to the dismay of Cherry, who was starting to get the feeling that she wasn't going to get the tray back.

The results for the tray came out several hours later, mostly because the scientists tested its physical properties first.

But the results weren't what he had expected. The stainless steel tray had changed entirely, becoming eerily reminiscent of nitrogen steel. Although its heat tolerance was far above the norm, it seemed as if the steel of the tray had become better in every way possible, even a bit better than the greatest steel being produced.

Of course, the heat tolerance was most likely from the magic, but this was an amazing discovery, at least for the scientists. Tundra only knew that he had made the steel better in every possible way, and he was beginning to wonder what would happen if he had done the same to a living being.

Cherry stared longingly at her mangled tray, knowing it was yet another tray from her collection destroyed.

Tundra looked over at Cherry, and for her continuous service, he decided to grant her a favor. Holding his hand out toward the tray, he transmuted the tray into its proper shape, healing it for her.

Cherry looked at Tundra for a moment before bowing and taking the tray, internally bouncing around in joy, but she had long since accepted that she had lost the tray.

Noticing how Cherry was less enthusiastic than he thought she'd be, he kept note of it. That wasn't a big enough gift, and if making a living being "better" wasn't dangerous or changed their personality, then she'd be one of the few he'd grant the pleasure of being made better.

As for who to test it on, he had business with the Saiyans later, which reminded him that flying would be faster.

Pressing a few buttons on his throne, he sent a message to Shitaki to change the destination to Planet Vegeta.

Standing up, Tundra took the cup filled with the glowing liquid and left the spaceship, using his ki to avoid immediately being sucked out as the ship flew an indiscernible amount of times faster than light.

Flying out, Tundra began to sense for Makura's ki, and as if on cue, a large power spiked somewhere in the universe. It seemed like she was watching him.

But that didn't matter. At least he knew where she was, and with a soundless sigh, Tundra shot off toward Makura's ki signature.

Steadily accelerating until he was far beyond the speed of his ship, it took a lot of focus not to hit anything. He didn't need planets to be split in half on accident.

And so he flew like that for a day straight, not stopping once, having his mind entirely set on one goal. Of course, that did not come without a few bumps along the way. He had burst through several asteroid formations on the way, grazing a few planets as well.

Landing on the cloud planet, Tundra was tired, partially from the planet's pacifying effect, though mostly from focusing so intensely for an entire day.

And what he was met with was a suspiciously inviting bed, and Makura.

"Is this your plot to get me to relax again?"

Makura smiled and nodded.

"I mean, since you're so tired, you wouldn't even mind, right?"

Tundra sighed. She wasn't even wrong, but he still needed to know what the fluid in the cup did.

"Appraise this fluid for me first... please."

Makura was pleasantly surprised at his politeness. Sure, he was never rude, but there were also never any times where he needed to request something of her.

"Since you were so nice as to say please, it heightens focus to an absurd degree for around two days."

That was immediate. Tundra knew Makura could appraise it fully, but at this speed?

"Hm... this 'business partner' of mine could hardly get anything out of it. How did you do it so fast?"

Makura yawned, staring directly at Greed, who was beginning to shrink in fear.

"Oh please, I'm more talented than some newborn."

Greed was a newborn?

That was interesting news, but somehow not unexpected to Tundra.

Beginning to speak, Tundra went to the bed, laying down and closing his eyes.

"It's not the greatest thing in the universe, but at least I always have it around."

And with that comment, Tundra went to sleep, Greed being happy at being wanted.
