The moment Kaelara's sword came down…
Three figures moved.
I didn't even see them leave their positions. One heartbeat they were standing several feet away. The next…
Clang!
The impact exploded through the clearing like thunder, the force vibrating through the ground beneath my boots. My eyes widened in shock.
Three different weapons had intercepted Kaelara's glowing blade before it could reach me. Thorne. Elion. And Ashriel.
For a second, nobody breathed. Kaelara's wolf-enhanced sword trembled violently against the three blades, refusing to let it pass, green energy crackling along its edge.
Thorne stood directly in front of me, his expression colder than I'd ever seen it, his jaw locked, eyes hard as steel. Elion was beside him, one hand firmly gripping his sword, posture protective yet composed. Ashriel stood on the other side, silent and motionless. His hood still hid most of his face, yet somehow his presence felt the most dangerous, like a storm barely contained.
