[IRIS POV]
A new, strange power welled up within me. Strength as I had never known before coursed through my veins. Without thinking twice, I pulled my arm back before throwing it back out, my hands clenched into tight fists.
For the first time, the world seemed to move in slow motion. I could see Caius's eyes widen in surprise, and even Gamma Jackson and his men felt as though they took three seconds too long to react. By the time their jaws had turned slack in surprise, I was already right up in Gamma Jackson's face.
My fist connected with his jaw before he could dodge. Right as the punch landed, time felt as though it suddenly righted itself. I gasped, pain radiating through my hand as the sound of bone cracking fizzled through the air. For a second, due to the pain, I couldn't tell if it was my own hand that had broken or if it was Gamma Jackson's jaw.
