[IRIS POV]
Just as I expected, Caius looked at me in confusion.
"But why?" He demanded. "Having a wolf is a good thing! Not to mention your wolf is so powerful―"
I slapped my hand across his mouth to shut him up.
"No one must know," I hissed into his ear. "If they find out I have a wolf, I'm dead. Do you understand? You owe me your life, so keep quiet about this. Promise me."
Caius still looked befuddled, but he reluctantly nodded after seeing how serious I was. I let go of him just in time to hear an awfully familiar voice call out in our direction. I immediately scuttled further back to blend in with the trees.
"Caius!" Yvette's voice was hoarse, sounding like she had been crying for hours.
A welling of hatred so strong threatened to overwhelm me the moment I caught sight of her rushing towards Caius, that I almost lunged forward to tackle Yvette to the floor. To think she would wear her wedding dress out when she joined the search party… I snorted at her theatrics.
