Chapter 119 - The Echo of Running Water

Not following her in…?

As if that was ever happening.

Please. This was his dorm.

Since when was there a rule saying he couldn't enter his own bathroom?

Wash? Of course he was washing. He had to wash.

Not washing properly would be disrespectful to himself.

The diary issue could wait. It wasn't going anywhere. A hot bath to reset his brain and relax his body was exactly what he needed.

...

The lingering echo of running water.

Under the girl's sideways glare, Asakusa Tōru rummaged through his wardrobe and pulled out the maid outfit.

It couldn't be helped. This was his dorm. Kushida Kikyo hadn't left any spare clothes here. If she didn't want to wear his loose clothes, there really wasn't anything else available.

She obviously wasn't going to wear that "bandage swimsuit," so what choice did he have?

"…Whose clothes are these?" Kushida's earlier softness vanished. She stared coldly at the maid outfit that was clearly not her size.

"New."

She gave him a look of pure disbelief.

"Who are you trying to fool? Go on. Who else are you sleeping with?"

She lifted the maid outfit and examined it carefully.

"Ichinose's? No… hers would be bigger."

"Shiranami Chihiro? No, she's not this size."

"Himeno Yuki? Doesn't seem right…"

"Amakura Mako? Probably not…"

"Kobashi Yume? No, no…"

"Then whose is it…"

Her brows furrowed.

"You're overthinking it." Asakusa raised his hand and delivered a clean chop to her head, interrupting her deductions. "You're the first."

"If you don't want the maid outfit, wear my clothes."

"…I don't believe you." She clicked her tongue.

This guy was way too experienced. Absolute scumbag energy. No way she was the first.

If anything, she was the one who looked more like it.

Whatever. She'd figure it out eventually.

She had memorized the maid outfit's measurements. She'd measure every girl with her own eyes.

"I'm not wearing your clothes," she said, digging through the pile of clothes she'd tossed beside the bed. She pulled out her room card. "You know where my room is, right?"

"Go get my clothes."

"Don't let anyone see you."

"I still have class tomorrow morning. I can't stay here overnight."

Honestly, staying this long was already a miscalculation.

She hadn't expected that one impulsive moment would escalate into… everything.

But it was fine.

She definitely hadn't lost out!

She shoved the room card into Asakusa's hand, wrapped herself in the blanket, grabbed her terminal, and burrowed under the covers, scrolling through the flood of messages she'd missed during her "offline" time.

As if remembering something, she poked her head out.

"Oh, and don't worry. I'm not going to snoop through your dorm. I'm not interested in that kind of thing."

With that, she ducked back under the blanket, not waiting for his response.

"..."

Asakusa looked down at the room card in his hand and shook his head, pulling on his clothes.

Fine. A quick errand wasn't a big deal.

As for whether leaving Kushida alone in his room would expose anything—

There was nothing incriminating left.

The marks from practicing Recording Pen throws had been repaired. The duplicate pens created during practice had their recordings cleared. He hadn't thrown them away, but even if she found them, at most she'd assume he bulk-bought some weird hobby gear.

The rest?

Just junk. Including the maid outfit.

The only truly useful items were two:

Cold medicine.

Calming popsicles.

She wouldn't randomly take the medicine without being sick. And if she ate a popsicle or two, that was fine.

…Still.

He should probably clean up his room more thoroughly later.

Anything that needed to be stored properly should be stored properly.

Otherwise, bringing girls back would get inconvenient.

"Click."

Door opened. Door closed.

"..."

The air conditioner hummed softly. The dorm fell quiet.

Under the blanket, Kushida suddenly popped her head out.

She tried pulling the blanket down slightly—

Cold air rushed in, and she immediately yanked it back up.

After hesitating for a moment, she reached out and grabbed the maid outfit.

Actually… it was pretty thick.

She might dislike it, but as long as she wasn't wearing it for him—just for warmth—it should be fine.

White thigh-high stockings wrapped around her legs. The black-and-white frilled skirt covered her absolute territory. It didn't fit perfectly, but as temporary insulation, it worked.

Clothes on.

Time to explore.

Of course she wasn't uninterested. That was a lie.

Kushida Kikyo was extremely interested in Asakusa Tōru.

The guy was practically a walking mystery.

Before, with him present, she'd observed his dorm casually but never had the chance to dig deeper.

A high school boy living alone for the first time?

That kind of room was bound to contain interesting things.

Sure, at Advanced Nurturing High School, everything had to be repurchased. He couldn't bring past "treasures" with him.

But in nearly two months of freedom, there was no way he hadn't bought anything.

Thus began Kushida's dormitory adventure.

First stop—under the bed!

…Oh. Right. The dorm beds were designed without gaps underneath.

Fine.

There was that big box next to the desk she always saw when visiting.

…Why the hell was it full of recording pens?

How many did this guy buy?!

Were recording pens free?!

She closed the box and opened a drawer.

Ballpoint pens. Some common household medicines.

And… a transparent bag clearly containing adhesive bandages—but labeled "swimsuit."

She felt like she should complain about something.

But didn't know where to start.

Closet next.

"—"

She pulled it open.

At the top were neatly hung male school uniforms. Behind them, she found a white lab coat. A shirt printed with "Truant," "Withdrawal," and "Liar."

Below that—

A single small leather shoe.

Clearly female indoor slippers.

And transparent high heels.

...
