Chapter 98 - Chapter 98 - The human world trap

The night air was heavy as Ryan, Lucifer, and the Red Moon warriors crossed the boundary from their territory into the human world. The city lights shimmered faintly in the distance, but nothing could distract them. Every sense was alert, every movement precise.

Ryan's heart ached with the void left by Hazel's absence. Ralph whimpered inside him, his frustration echoing his longing. His vampire and demon instincts pulsed, discordant, but he pushed forward. Hazel's scent grew stronger as they approached the location Lucifer had pinpointed.

But when they arrived, the scene made Ryan's blood run cold. Hazel was there—inside a secure, heavily guarded building—but she did not respond to his presence.

"Something's wrong," Ryan muttered, scanning the room through the Alpha sense. Her aura was faint, muted, almost as if a shadow had been drawn over her energy.

Lucifer's eyes narrowed. "She's been drugged. He's done something to suppress her abilities and her senses. She cannot feel you, Ryan, not yet. But she is alive."

Ryan's jaw tightened. He could smell the chemicals that Justin had forced into her system, and the faint traces of magic blocking her natural powers. Every instinct in him screamed to break through, to reach her, but he knew brute force alone wouldn't save her.

"Liam, Nick," Ryan said, his voice low and dangerous, "we move in carefully. Hazards are present. She cannot guide us. Every rogue is armed, every trap prepared for an Alpha of my strength. Do not underestimate this."

The pack nodded. They had trained for countless scenarios, but the reality of finding Hazel incapacitated and drugged made the stakes unbearably high.

Ryan's eyes softened for a moment as he looked at her form, slumped and fragile on the ground, tied lightly to prevent escape. Her raven hair spilled across the floor, her breathing shallow but steady. He wanted to reach for her, to hold her, to ensure she was safe—but the drug suppressed her senses, muting the pull that normally tied them together.

"She will feel nothing for now," Lucifer said grimly. "But her body remains alive, and that is all that matters at this moment. The hunters are yours to handle. Clear the rogues. Secure her, and we bring her back."

Ryan growled low, the sound rumbling in his chest and echoing through the building. Ralph's whine inside him grew desperate. The pack surged forward, every warrior ready to strike.

The rogues were alert but unprepared for the coordinated assault. Ryan and his betas, Liam and Nick, moved like shadows through the corridors, taking down guards swiftly and silently. Each rogue fell before they could react, leaving a trail of chaos in their wake.

Ryan finally reached the room where Hazel was held. His eyes locked on her still form, and he whispered her name, though he knew she could not respond. "Hazel… I'm here. I will bring you back."

Lucifer and the other warriors secured the perimeter, ensuring no rogue could escape or interfere. The air crackled with tension, the city unaware that a battle of supernatural power and desperate loyalty was unfolding within its walls.

Ryan knelt beside Hazel, gently touching her shoulder. Her body trembled slightly under the drug, but her aura was muted, distant. He could not connect with her through their bond, not yet, and that frustration ignited a low, dangerous growl from deep within him.

"She cannot feel me yet," Ryan murmured. "But I will make her feel again. Every part of her. Every instinct. No one—no one—will keep you from me, Hazel."

The pack's warriors readied themselves for the next stage—the extraction of Hazel and the final confrontation with Justin, who now realized that his prey had finally drawn the full attention of Red Moon's Alpha.

The hunt was far from over, but Ryan had found her. And that alone was the first step toward reclaiming what Justin had stolen.
