Chapter 1 - THE ACCIDENT

I didn't mean to be late. Like, I really didn't. But somehow, life has its way of turning things around , and it seemed to know that today, of all days, I had to be late.

The rain was really pouring , like someone in the sky had decided and needed to cry . My shoes squelched with every step, my hair was a disaster, and my favorite jacket yeah, the one that made me look slightly decent was soaked through. Perfect. Just perfect.

I ran faster as fast as my legs can carry me, trying not to think about how utterly ridiculous I must've looked, and that's when I saw him.

He was standing under the old streetlight, hair plastered to his forehead, jacket clinging to him like he'd been caught in the storm for hours. And for a stupid, fleeting second, I forgot everything else.

"Hi," he said, his voice low, but it had this weight to it. Like he wasn't just saying hello, like he meant it.

I stood still . Probably stared. Definitely looked like an idiot. "Uh… hi," I managed, my words sounding small and wrong.

He smirked. Not a big, cheesy smirk more like the kind that knew exactly what you were thinking, and wasn't going to let you forget it. "Running from the rain?" he asked.

I rolled my eyes, because apparently that's what humans do when they're awkward. "No, obviously not," I muttered. "Just enjoying it. Totally enjoying it.

He laughed, Not at me. With me,I forgot about everything for a few seconds. And suddenly, the rain didn't feel so bad.

But then it happened. A car. Slipping, skidding on the wet asphalt, heading straight for me.

Before I could even react , he was there grabbed my arm, pulled me back, and slammed me against the wall of the nearest shop. Heart pounding, soaked, shaking, I looked up at him, and for some reason, my stupid brain just melted.

He looked at me "You okay?" he asked, voice rough, eyes serious.

I nodded. Or tried to. My words got stuck somewhere between my throat and my panic. "Yeah… yeah, I'm fine," I said softly

And that's when I knew. I knew my life had just changed. Not because of the rain. Not because of almost dying. But because of him.

His name? I didn't know yet. But somehow, I knew he was going to be impossible to forget.
