Chapter 3 - The Wooden Box

Beside the couch, there was an opening to a room with its door torn off.

The room contained a wooden bed and a blue blanket with red edges, decorated with car drawings.

Next to the bed was a table, on it a cup of tea with only half of it remaining, along with an ashtray and glasses.

On the bed lay an eighteen-year-old boy with green hair, sleeping peacefully.

Beside them stood a wooden wardrobe for clothes, with strange items hanging on its outside.

"Wake up, Richard. Since when have you been here? Looks like you don't even have a home."

Caesar shouted angrily at the sleeper.

"Ugh, idiot with such a heavy sleep."

"Wait, Caesar, I have a way to wake him up."

Theo turned to Caesar and gave him a meaningful smile.

Theo ran with all his strength and jumped high, like a bird longing to fly,

then crashed down like a rocket onto Richard's stomach.

"Wake up, you idiot!"

"Booof! Cough cough cough!"

Richard felt as if the Angel of Death was forcefully pulling his soul out of his body.

"You—cough—idiot! Are you trying to kill me? Cough cough!"

"Finally awake! Hehehe."

"I'll kill you!"

Richard tried to hit Theo with all his strength, but Theo jumped away and ran as fast as he could, looking back and laughing.

At the door, Caesar was holding his stomach, laughing.

"Pfft! And I was wondering how you'd wake him up! Pfft! Hahaha!"

"Hmph! And you were just watching while he tried to kill me?"

Richard felt angry and asked in confusion.

"Hehehe, sorry, sorry. I didn't know what he was about to do. Hehehe."

Richard stared at Theo with suppressed anger, as if piercing his head with his eyes.

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry. I was just joking. Tell us, since when have you been here?"

"Since yesterday, did you forget? You left me here."

"Listen, Caesar got himself into a mess."

"Huh? What is it?"

Richard looked at Theo in confusion, his head almost turning into a question mark, then looked at Caesar, waiting for an explanation.

"Alright, Theo, tell him. I'll go bring the box and tell you."

Caesar went to fetch a wooden box filled with papers from the bookshelf,

and at the same time, Theo told Richard what had happened that morning.

"What?! Hmmm hmmm… five thousand silver coins?! You idiot, Caesar! What are you doing? Do you want to die? And taking it from the Afariya gang, you crazy fool!"

As Richard shouted, Caesar returned carrying the wooden box, ignoring Richard's yelling.

"Hmmm… no, not this one… nor this… hmm, this is good, but no… Oh, found it!"

"Alright, shut up, shut up, your voice is annoying. Take this and look at these papers, and you'll know what I'm planning."

Richard and Theo snatched the papers and began flipping through them like people who hadn't drunk water for weeks and had just seen a small pond.

"Hmmm, what is this?"

Theo asked, then Richard added,

"Yeah, yeah, what is this? I don't understand anything, man. Are these papers going to summon a genie and give you three wishes?!"

"Pfft! Hehehe, right, right."

Caesar's face turned red as he said angrily,

"You idiots! Look at them properly, then talk."

"Do you think I don't have eyes? I know what I'm seeing. Does this thing really work?!"

"What? Do you doubt me? And who made that thing for you?"

Caesar angrily pointed at something resembling a wardrobe, with a long knife hanging on it, a clearly visible handle, and a metal button at the bottom—everything about it suggested it had some kind of purpose.

"Alright, alright, I know you made me the automatic staff, but what I see in these papers is something strange, man."

"I promise it will work. This is something I've been planning for a long time, even before I took the money. The reason I delayed executing it was fear of mistakes, but now I promise you—it will work."

Richard sighed and said,

"Phew… man, I know that whatever you say, you'll do it. I'm not doubting you, but the risk is high."
