Mark found the whole idea utterly ridiculous.

There was no way he could fall in love with Suzy. He couldn't possibly fall in love with anyone.
The reason he had stayed by Suzy's side, the reason he had protected her, was simply because he owed her a debt.
She had saved his life, and he protected her in return to repay that debt. Wasn't that only natural?

Mark tugged helplessly at the corner of his mouth, thinking that Nate really had been talking nonsense.
The man had even spouted such ridiculous nonsense right before dying, leaving Mark inexplicably irritated.
Besides, Suzy had already removed the curse inside his body. Even if he didn't complete the mission, what difference did it make?
