Finnegan
I hate to say I told myself so, but I did.
I knew something would happen. We were all plunged into darkness.
Only faint emergency strips along the floor glowed weakly, casting strange red lines across the floor, turning the faces around me into eerie, ghostly masks.
My body tensed instantly. I pulled Abigail tight against my side, my arm banding around her waist, then yelled across the room.
"Please get ready to evacuate the building,"
I could hear Henry's voice nearby. "Relax, Finn. It's probably just a power surge. The generators will kick in any second."
"No. I've had a bad feeling all day. We're not staying."
River's voice cut through the murmurs. "You always have a bad feeling on your birthdays. Every single year. It's a trauma response, cousin."
I shook my head in the darkness, even though she couldn't see it. "It feels like more than that," I muttered, my eyes straining against the blackness, searching for threats.
