Kamish is released inside the dome, and his opponent is a brown bipedal grass pokémon with a leaf on its head.
The arena chosen for the match is filled with flowers. Every inch of floor inside the dome is covered in colorful and lush flowerbeds.
Kamish floats in the air and tries to find his opponent but the Nuzleaf has already disappeared inside the tall flowers and is nowhere to be seen.
Lazarus frowns, 'Not good. A grass and dark pokémon inside a flora rich environment, we have no advantage over here.'
"The next match will take place between trainer Lazarus's Dreepy and trainer Alicia's Nuzleaf. The match has a fifteen minute time limit, and no psychic links are to be used. The match will begin in two minutes." The speakers announce.
"Kamish. I am checking to see if you can hear me?" Lazarus asks into the microphone. "Make a circle in the air like last time if you can."
Inside the dome, Kamish does as he's told.
"Okay, so listen. Your opponent is a dark pokémon. And you are weak against them. Plus the arena battlefield isn't on our side either. So, I want you to be very careful, don't do anything recklessly. Don't let a single attack touch you. Do not be overconfident. We don't know where the Nuzleaf is and we can't until it makes a move first, so I want you to circle the arena and watch out for any movement."
Kamish hears this, but doesn't think defeating the Nuzleaf will be a problem. After all the first thing the leaf head did was hide from him, but since Lazarus says to be careful, he'll be careful.
"The match will begin in 3…2…1… Begin."
Kamish takes flight as he was told, and starts moving along the edge of the dome, circling it while keeping an eye on the ground for any signs of movement inside the flower bed.
A second later, he spots a rustle in the flower bed, and dashes straight towards it. But on the way he is met with tens of leaf blades that are hurled towards him.
Kamish's body is enveloped in dragon force, so the leaf blades shatter against him without posing a threat.
Kamish arrives at the place the leaf blades originated from, he searches for Nuzleaf among the blue and yellow tulips but finds nothing, which greatly annoys him.
"Don't worry about it. Get back in the air, don't go inside the flowers for now. That won't benefit us." Lazarus's says.
Kamish gets back in in the air and starts circling the dome again.
"I know this isn't exciting for you, but as long as we keep flying in the air it won't be able to attack you. We have time, sooner of later it will get impatient and you will have your chance."
Kamish understands his trainer, but this feels like he is hiding from his prey, and a dragon doesn't hide from anything. He wants his trainer to praise him for being brave and fearless, and hiding isn't being brave.
He again hears the rustling of the leaves somewhere in the dome and turns towards the noise only to find another barrage of leaf blades coming his way.
The Dreepy again destroys them with his body and dashes towards the source, hoping to catch the Nuzleaf this time.
"Dodge the leaves from now on. And destroy some of the flowers with your tail when you get there and then go back again."
Kamish listens to Lazarus and uses dragon tail to destroy some of the flowers there, Nuzleaf is still no where to be found.
'Why isn't Alicia doing anything with Nuzleaf's dark typing.' Lazarus thinks, 'She must know leaf blades aren't going to cause any damage to Kamish. She has to be planing something.'
"Okay, go back in the air." He says, "We'll keep doing this, but carefully, the Nuzleaf might have setup an ambush there. The only advantage we have right now is that you can fly. And as long as you are in the air, you'll be fine."
Kamish flies back and starts circling the dome again.
They keep doing this for the next five minutes, Kamish sees the leaf blades traveling his way and then he dashes towards the flowers hoping to hit Nuzleaf but finds nothing, and then like clockwork he goes back to the air, and the loop repeats.
By now Kamish has destroyed half of the flowerbed, which Lazarus hopes will finally draw the Nuzleaf out of hiding.
Inside the flowerbeds, the Nuzleaf moves through the tall flowers, careful not to make any sudden movement. Periodically it leeches life from the flowers, but only the ones that are on the inside, so that Dreepy's trainer outside won't be able to see the flowers wither.
"It's time, Kono. Get ready to go full force." Alicia's voice comes out from the speakers, which Kamish ignores as he's been doing all along.
Nuzleaf takes a deep breath and gets ready to fight for real this time.
"Mega Drain." Nuzleaf's trainer commands.
The flowers near Nuzleaf star withering, and their life force turns into energy that Nuzleaf absorbs into itself.
Kamish notices movement among the flowers and sees Nuzleaf's figure visible among the flowers and dashes towards it in full force.
And this time the hit connects, Nuzleaf is knocked back and tries to hide back into the flowers again but the dragon uses his tail to decapitate the flowers in front of him.
Nuzleaf is visible to Kamish again, who uses his tail to smack Nuzleaf in the face. And then waits for Nuzleaf to get back up again.
"Finish him. Use Dragon Tackle full force." Lazarus says.
Kamish intends to do that, but before that he wants to punish leaf head for the hide and seek game it made him play. There is no way it can hide from him now.
Nuzleaf gets back up and throws some leaf blades at Kamish and then runs to hide back into the flowerbed.
Kamish takes three seconds to smack each and every single leaf blade with his tail and then dashes after Nuzleaf.
Nuzleaf runs through the flower bed followed by Kamish who tears through the flowers in a bid to catch the grass pokémon, which he does.
Kamish uses Dragon Tail on Nuzleaf's legs and makes it fall face first into the ground. Kamish then slowly floats towards him and starts hitting it on the back with his tail.
By now flowers around them start withering at a visible rate.
Lazarus finally notices this and has a bad feeling about it, "Kamish, get back in the air. Now."
But Kamish doesn't hear him, he's having way too much fun hitting Nuzleaf to focus on anything else right now. The leaf head made him fly around for so long, and it has greatly annoyed the dragon.
Then the rate at which the flowers wither starts to increase rapidly, one second they are still lush and green and then the entire flower bed inside the arena turns brown and starts dying.
"Oh shit! Kamish get away from it right now." Lazarus almost screams into the mic. He's finally realized what Nuzleaf and its trainer are trying to do.
The dragon hears his trainer this time and stops hitting the Nuzleaf, and shoots back in the air, but it's too late now.
Thick green vines shoot out from different parts of the arena, Nuzleaf had planted seeds for them all around the arena when they were still playing their hide and seek game.
More than twenty long vines move to grab Kamish.
Kamish tries to dodge them, he succeeds in dodging most of them due to his superior speed but more vines just keep coming.
Eventually one succeeds in grabbing onto Kamish, the vine coils around his body, followed by another one.
Kamish panics, he tries to fly higher but the vines constricting his body are forcing him down.
Lazarus gives his orders, "Don't panic. Make your body spin. Use as much dragon force as you have to. We can still win this, just get away from the vines and then Dragon Tackle the Nuzleaf as hard as you can."
Kamish body unleashes all the dragon force it's capable of producing and then he spins with full force.
He succeeds in shredding through the vines grabbing onto him, but more keep coming, Kamish smacks some of the newer vines with his tail and breaks them.
Then he starts looking for Nuzleaf, and at this point the entire dome is devoid of flowers except for a single patch of bed nearby. So that's probably where the Nuzleaf is hiding.
Dreepy dashes towards those flowers, his entire body has blue energy swirling out of it.
"Shadow Leaf Barrage." Alicia commands.
Suddenly hundreds of leaf blades shoot out from where Nuzleaf is hiding, Kamish intends to tear through the leaves as he has been doing this entire time, but these leaves are different than the ones before, these leaves are infused with darkness, and darkness is strong against ghost.
Kamish expects to pass through the leaf storm without problem just like the ones before, but is shocked when the first leaf collides against his body. These leaves hurt him, the ones from before didn't hurt, these do.
The Dragon nonetheless keeps going, he powers through a significant amount of the leaf blades but they just keep coming, Nuzleaf devoured energy from the entire flowerbed for this move. The endless leaf blade soon manage to overwhelm the Dreepy and the algorithms decide this is his loss.
Lazarus sighs as he sees his pokémon getting recalled by the red laser. 'That was a well throughout plan.'
Sure it would have turned out differently if they were in a different arena, but being able to use the environment to their advantage is a skill not every trainer possesses.
'This was bound to happen sooner or later, better now than later. I can use this as a great learning opportunity,' He thinks, 'This might not be a bad thing after all.'
