Chapter 202 - Power Of The Dark Side

....

At the Clock Tower, Leon and Kevin finally arrived along with several people they had managed to rescue along the way.

"What a day straight out of hell…" Leon muttered as he sank down, completely exhausted. The memories were still fresh—fighting through Lickers, Hunter zombies, and even giant spiders lurking in the dark. On top of that, they had been forced to repair the electrical system just to get the railway operational again, all while trying to save civilians. In the end, only a handful had made it out alive.

"Yeah…" Kevin replied, lighting a cigarette as he sat down beside Leon, his eyes fixed on the sun slowly rising over the city.

"You could definitely call that one long night, buddy."

For a brief moment, the chaos seemed distant. The sound of gunfire was gone, replaced by silence—and the faint cries of a dying city.

Kevin turned his head and held out the cigarette.

"Want one?"

Leon shook his head.

"No. I don't smoke."

Kevin gave a tired smirk and took a drag himself, watching the morning light spill over the Clock Tower—an uneasy calm before whatever nightmare was still waiting to come.

"Oh—look at this. I'm damn glad to see you're still alive," a man with messy hair said as he approached. It was Carlos. He walked over casually, carrying two bottles of beer, and handed them to Leon and Kevin.

"Yeah, good to see you're still breathing too," Kevin replied with a tired grin as he took one of the bottles.

"Thanks," Leon said, accepting the other.

Carlos leaned against the railing, his expression turning a bit more serious.

"Oh, by the way… I've got some bad news. I just got confirmation that by tomorrow morning, this city is scheduled to be wiped off the map by missiles. That means we can't stay here much longer. When the next evacuation helicopter arrives, you'd better get out of here with it."

Leon and Kevin exchanged brief looks before nodding in unison.

"Alright. Thanks for the heads-up," Kevin said, taking a sip of his beer.

"We were planning to get the hell out of here anyway."

At the same time, the three of them looked unusually calm, taking advantage of the rare moment of silence. They stayed put, resting and waiting for their evacuation transport to arrive, enjoying what little peace remained in the ruined city.

But not far away, down the empty street, a towering figure slowly emerged from the haze. A man—nearly seven feet tall, wearing a long black coat and a dark hat—was walking straight toward the Clock Tower.

That figure was no man.

It was a B.O.W., sent by Umbrella to eliminate any remaining survivors—police officers, civilians, anyone still breathing in Raccoon City. And anyone who stood in the way of this Tyrant completing its mission would be destroyed without hesitation.

As if to prove that point, a Licker suddenly leaped from the shadows, screeching as it tried to ambush the figure.

In a single, brutal motion, Tyrant-003 caught the creature by the neck mid-air and crushed it with its bare hand, ripping the Licker's body cleanly in two. Blood and viscera splattered across the pavement as the remains collapsed lifelessly to the ground.

"Hey… did you guys see that?" Leon said, his expression tightening as unease crawled up his spine.

"Is that thing even human?" Kevin muttered, staring in disbelief. No human could kill a Licker that easily—especially not with bare hands.

"I don't know," Carlos replied, his voice low and tense. "But it sure as hell doesn't look right."

Staying alert, Carlos quickly grabbed his radio.

"Hey, unit guarding the lower perimeter—check out the guy walking toward the Clock Tower. Something's off about him."

The soldier stationed below acknowledged the call and cautiously moved in closer, approaching the massive figure—completely unaware of what was about to happen next.

"Hey—stop right there!" one of the guards shouted, raising his weapon and issuing a clear command.

The figure didn't slow down.

Instead, the Tyrant continued walking straight toward them, its heavy footsteps echoing against the empty street.

"I said STOP! One more step and I'll shoot!" the soldier yelled, his rifle now fully trained on the approaching figure.

The Tyrant suddenly burst into a sprint.

"Shit—!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The guard opened fire, unloading round after round. But the bullets ricocheted harmlessly off the creature's body, bouncing away as if they had struck solid steel.

"What the hell—?! The bullets aren't doing anything!" the guard shouted in panic.

Before he could react, the Tyrant slammed into him, lifting him off the ground with one hand and crushing his throat in a brutal chokehold.

"Let—let go of me!" the soldier gasped, struggling for air.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Even as his vision blurred, he desperately fired upward, aiming straight for the Tyrant's head. The repeated impacts finally forced the creature to loosen its grip, tossing him aside.

"It's not human! RUN!" the guard screamed, scrambling to his feet and trying to flee toward cover.

Too late.

The Tyrant ripped a long steel beam from nearby debris with effortless strength and hurled it like a spear.

CRASH!

The metal rod pierced straight through the soldier's body, pinning him to the ground. He went limp instantly, lifeless before he even hit the pavement.

The street fell silent once more—

except for the heavy, methodical footsteps of Tyrant-103, resuming its march toward the Clock Tower.

Leon, Kevin, and Carlos all stiffened the moment they saw it. The brutal display left no room for doubt—the Tyrant was heading straight toward their position.

"My God… what is that thing?" Leon muttered, his voice tense as his eyes followed the massive silhouette moving through the street with terrifying calm.

"We can't let that monster keep going," Kevin said firmly, gripping his weapon tighter. "If we don't stop it, it's going to slaughter every civilian still left in this area."

Carlos clenched his jaw, already thinking ahead. "Follow me," he said quickly. "We'll need something a hell of a lot bigger if we want any chance of stopping that thing. There's a rocket launcher supply near the underground station."

Leon and Kevin exchanged a brief glance, then nodded without hesitation. There was no time to argue.

The three of them moved fast, following Carlos as they left the Clock Tower grounds. Behind them, several soldiers and police officers began spreading out, escorting survivors away from the area, shouting evacuation orders and guiding civilians toward safer routes.

The civilians immediately panicked when the chaos outside became impossible to ignore. Screams filled the air as people started running in every direction, making the evacuation far more difficult for the police officers trying desperately to maintain order.

Just as the Tyrant was about to force its way into the shelter area—

Swuuush—BOOM!

A rocket fired from a launcher streaked through the air and slammed directly into the Tyrant's chest, engulfing it in a violent explosion.

"Haha! Nice shot, Leon!" Carlos shouted, slapping Leon on the back.

But the victory was short-lived.

The Tyrant's massive body was thrown backward by the blast, crashing hard against the pavement—but it didn't fall apart. Smoke rose as the creature slowly pushed itself back up, its body still moving.

"Shit… it's not dead," Carlos growled.

"Leon, keep firing until it stays down!" Kevin yelled, already switching weapons. He raised his grenade launcher and fired several rounds in quick succession, each explosion hammering the Tyrant's body.

The barrage finally drew the monster's full attention.

Its head snapped toward them.

Then it started running.

"Move!" Kevin shouted.

Swuuush—

Leon fired another rocket. This time, the Tyrant reacted with terrifying speed—sidestepping the projectile entirely. The rocket missed and struck a nearby vehicle instead.

BOOOOM!

The car erupted into flames, the shockwave knocking debris into the air.

"What the hell?! It dodged it!" Leon shouted, stunned.

Carlos clenched his teeth. "We need to pull it away from here," he said quickly. "If we keep fighting here, the civilians won't stand a chance."

They didn't need to discuss it.

The three of them turned and ran in another direction, drawing the Tyrant away, firing their weapons as they moved. Gunfire and explosions echoed through the streets as the massive creature chased them relentlessly—

buying precious time for the remaining civilians to be evacuated to safety.

They kept running until, finally, they found themselves trapped in a subway rail corridor, the concrete tunnel stretching ahead of them with no side exits.

"Shit… dead end. We've gotta turn back!" Leon shouted, already moving to retreat—

—but it was too late.

Behind them, the heavy footsteps stopped.

The towering figure of Tyrant-103 emerged from the smoke and dust, its massive body completely blocking the way out. The dim emergency lights reflected off its black coat as it stood there, silent and unmoving, like a wall of death sealing their escape.

They were trapped.

Kevin swallowed hard. Carlos tightened his grip on his weapon.

"…Looks like we don't have a choice," Leon said grimly. "We have to fight it."

Without wasting another second, Leon raised the rocket launcher again. The confined space of the station made it insanely dangerous—but hesitation would get them killed.

This time, Leon adjusted his aim.

"Legs," he muttered under his breath.

Swuuush—

The rocket launched.

The moment Kevin and Carlos realized what Leon was doing, their eyes widened.

"Leon, you crazy—!" Carlos shouted.

Both of them dove behind thick concrete pillars, pressing themselves flat against the structure just as Leon sprinted and slid behind cover as well.

The rocket slammed into the Tyrant's lower body.

BOOM!

The Tyrant was blasted backward again, its massive body thrown across the tracks as flames licked up its scorched coat. One of its legs was clearly damaged, twisted at an unnatural angle.

"Did… did we finally kill it?" Kevin muttered, swallowing hard.

Leon didn't answer. He was already reloading the rocket launcher, fingers shaking but determined, preparing to fire one last shot—

"Leon, wait! Train incoming!" Kevin shouted.

Leon looked up just in time to see headlights flooding the tunnel.

The train screeched to a halt, metal grinding against metal. The doors slid open with a sharp hiss.

Leon instinctively stepped off the tracks.

From the train, Allen stepped out—still carrying Claire in his arms—followed closely by the rest of the women. The scene froze for a split second, chaos and relief colliding in the narrow station.

"Hey, Leon. You're still here?" Allen said casually, smiling. "Oh—Kevin and Carlos too."

Before anyone could respond—

The Tyrant moved.

With a guttural roar, it surged forward despite its injuries.

"Leon, look out!" Allen shouted.

The Tyrant's massive hand closed around Leon's throat, lifting him clean off the ground.

"Leon!" Carlos yelled.

Kevin and Carlos opened fire immediately, unloading rounds into the Tyrant's head and torso. Ada, Rachel, Karena, and Michaela joined in, firing carefully to avoid hitting Leon.

Leon clawed at the Tyrant's grip, gasping for air as his vision began to blur.

"Leon—catch this!" Allen shouted.

Allen hurled a small object toward him—something cylindrical, almost like a flashlight.

Leon barely managed to grab it.

"Leon, press the button!" Allen shouted again.

Leon didn't have time to think. His hands were slipping, his lungs burning. He slammed his thumb down on the switch.

—SWISH.

A blade of crimson light burst from the device.

For a split second, everyone froze.

"What the hell…?" Kevin whispered.

Claire stared wide-eyed. Carlos swore under his breath.

Leon didn't hesitate.

With a desperate swing, he slashed at the Tyrant's arm.

The glowing blade sliced clean through flesh and bone.

The Tyrant's arm hit the ground with a wet thud.

"AAAAAAARGH!" it roared.

The grip loosened instantly. Leon collapsed onto the floor, coughing violently.

"Cough—cough—" Leon gasped, clutching his throat as he rolled away.

But the Tyrant wasn't done.

Screaming in rage, it lunged forward again, blood spraying from its severed limb.

Leon forced himself up, teeth clenched, the red blade humming in his hand.

He dodged sideways at the last second.

CRASH!

The Tyrant slammed into a concrete pillar.

Leon stepped forward.

One clean motion.

He drove the glowing blade straight across the Tyrant's neck.

SWISH.

The head separated effortlessly, hitting the ground and rolling to a stop.

The Tyrant's body stood for a second—then collapsed.

Silence filled the station.

Allen watched the scene, clearly impressed. He nodded once, then said with a faint grin,

"Congratulations, Leon. You just felt the power of the dark side." He spoke in a tone that imitated Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader).
