Chapter 7 - Level up!

[Zombie (Level 4)]

Rank soul: Bronze rank

[ATK: 30][DEF: 30][HP: 222][CRIT DAMAGE: 25]

Profession: [None]

Skills: Brutal Bite (F) [ATK +20%]

Clark slashed a zombie in half before transferring his mana into the sword.

[Energy Slashes]!

He swung his sword downward, sending out a wave of energy that erased five zombies at once.

 -223[1]! -223! -223! -223! -223!

[You have slain a level 4 zombie]

[You have slain a level 4 zombie]

[You gained 50 EXP + 5 EXP (10%).]

[Level: 5] [2% → 30%]

[Cooldown: 10s]

[Cooldown: 9s]

Clark couldn't help but flinch when he saw the total damage he had dealt to the monsters. If someone were watching him right now, he would look like a high-level player who had wandered into a newbie farming zone by mistake.

But that wasn't the case.

His level was only one level higher than the zombies, and just one or two levels above the other players. Not a big gap. Yet while other players could only deal around 20–30 damage to the monsters, he was dishing out damage like this.

The core reason was his weapon and his skills.

Aharik had copied skills from the zombie boss. A boss skill was no joke. Clark was sure that none of the players here could withstand even a single strike from that skill.

And now, he possessed it.

On top of that, he had a weapon recipe that none of the beginners around the first twenty levels could craft. It wasn't about drop rates—it was about the materials required.

At that moment, his profession took effect again. Most of the materials dropped by zombies here belonged to his summons.

He even threatened other players to snatch their materials.

His situation looked like one of those cases where all the players on a map were unknowingly raising a single player.

Clark leaped into midair and, at the same time, landed a punch straight into a zombie's abdomen.

-45[2]!

His eyes gleamed sharply as he danced across the hall floor. Each slash finished an enemy in a single strike.

-139[3]! -139! -139!

[You have slain a level 4 zombie]

[You gained 10 EXP + 1 EXP (10%).]

[You gained 10 EXP + 1 EXP (10%).]

He glanced at the horde of zombies surrounding the jailers and prisoners, then immediately swung an energy slash.

Just a few seconds later, the hordes of zombies were cut to pieces under Clark's blows.

-223! -223! -223! -223! -223!

[You have slain a level 4 zombie]

[You have slain a level 4 zombie]

[You gained 50 EXP + 5 EXP (10%).]

"Hey, that's mine!" a jailer screamed in anger after Clark killed all the zombies. Ever since the second stage began, he had only killed around three or four zombies, so his leveling speed was painfully slow. At this rate, he wouldn't survive the final stage.

Clark ignored them, ordering his summons to gather up after clearing all the zombies in the second stage.

He glanced at his troops.

[Soul Storage]: Bronze rank 128 / Silver rank 0 / Gold rank 0 / Platinum rank 0

[Summons]: 11

 —

(I lost around ten zombies in the second stage, but it's not a big deal when I still have plenty of other souls.)

He instantly triggered his system.

[Bronze Souls conversion success rate: 100%.]

[Do you wish to convert these souls into summons?]

"Do it!"

Just half a second later, souls from the void appeared in front of him in formation, making the other players shudder in fear.

The souls quickly took on new bodies—not the same as the former zombies, but sturdier, with firm skin and defined muscles.

(Now I have 139 summons. That's more than enough to face the third stage. I don't have to worry too much about what's coming.)

(Even if I just sit here and take a nap, I could probably still clear the challenge easily.)

It was a good method, but he didn't do that, since it wouldn't help him level up quickly.

"Your Majesty, these are all the tributes I've collected from the lowly commoners," Aharik said, pointing at the zombies carrying the players' stuff.

Rocky rubbed his chin and nodded. The blue hawk on his shoulder quickly flew up, turning them into his [Inventory].

He opened his [Inventory].

Memoir recipe

Metal scraps (x99)

Metal scraps (x86)

Evil souls (x99)

Sacred dust (x32)

Clark frowned, then quickly smiled.

"I have another memoir recipe. And I even have a moonstone. Is it a coincidence? No. Since I took most of the stuff on this map, having both of them is only natural."

First, he took out the leather boots.

Name: Leather Boots

Rank: F

Description: A pair of shoes sewn carefully and extremely durable, but using them for long-distance travel causes leg pain.

Movement Speed +3%

"It's not much, but at least my stats will improve."

The next moment, he summoned the system screen.

[Inventory] [Craft] [Combine]

 —

After successfully crafting the memoir, he opened the [Combine] interface.

 —

The Memoir → The Memoir (+2)

Success rate: 60% + Moonstone (20%) = 80%

Requires: 3k coins

 —

Ting!

[Congratulations! You have successfully combined The Memoir (+2)]

[Effect: +10% EXP gained from killing monsters → +20% EXP gained from killing monsters]

 —

"Yes!" Clark nodded in satisfaction as he looked at the runes. Each item could reach up to eight levels, but the upgrade rate was absolute hell.

Back in all five versions, he had never managed to upgrade an item to level 6 for one simple reason.

The upgrade rate for rare items was always a nightmare. Still, at only level 2, it wasn't a big problem. Using a moonstone, he could upgrade it easily.

The moonstone was the key to boosting rare items, but it was only a temporary solution. If he wanted to pull ahead of normal players, he would need to find higher-quality stones.

[The third stage will begin]

Clark opened his eyes after being lost in thought for a while. He tightened his grip on his sword, staring at the approaching zombies.

(My goal is level 10.)

[1] 94x160%(enegry slash)+94-30(DEF)+94x10%(Pure damge)=223

[2] 44x70%+44-30=45
