Chapter 3 - Hour 3. CONFUSION

The moment everyone heard what Kero said, an eerie silence fell over the classroom.

Everyone was scared—but no one wanted to show it on their face.

Raza spoke up, clearly nervous:

Raza: "Bro, are you trying to scare us? You know how bad the situation already is… please stop this drama."

Kero took a deep breath before replying:

Kero: "Bro, I'm telling the truth. I'm not in the mood for jokes—especially not right now. If you don't believe me, let's check again."

They checked once more.

The result was the same.

Just then, a loud crash echoed from the gate.

People were trying to break it—using iron chairs and benches. But because of the heavy security, their attempts failed. Exhausted and terrified, many students collapsed to the ground, fear and fatigue clearly visible on their faces.

Ranjeet walked up and asked casually:

Ranjeet: "Hey guys, what's up? You all look really tired."

Kero replied calmly, though fear crept into his voice:

Kero: "Nothing, bro… just—"

Ranjeet tilted his head, curious.

Ranjeet: "What happened? You guys look scared."

Kero: "Bro, if we weren't scared, that would be weird. Can't you see the situation?"

Ranjeet laughed lightly.

Ranjeet: "Relax, bro. Everything will be fine. Our school security isn't some joke."

Himanshu stared at him, confused.

Himanshu: "Why are you so chill about this?"

Ranjeet shrugged.

Ranjeet: "Why wouldn't I be? The situation's already calmed down."

Kero and his friends exchanged confused looks.

Seeing their expressions, Ranjeet added:

Ranjeet: "In short—nothing's the same as before, but right now everything's okay."

Raza suddenly snapped:

Raza: "Are you stupid or what? What nonsense are you talking? Are you messing with us?"

Suhana stepped in, calming Raza, then turned to Ranjeet.

Suhana: "What exactly are you saying, Ranjeet?"

Ranjeet began explaining:

Ranjeet: "I'm just telling you what happened here…"

Everyone listened carefully as Ranjeet continued.

Ranjeet: "After the lunch break ended, a screen appeared. A ten-second reverse countdown started. The moment it hit zero, the screen reset—and that's when we heard the car crashes. The lights came back on too. I ran toward your class… your condition was the same as ours. Panic spread everywhere. Everyone thought it was an attack. People searched for teachers, but couldn't find them. Everyone assumed they ran away. Slowly, things calmed down… people started thinking it was safe and relaxed."

Kero's class went silent.

That's when they finally understood how serious this was.

Suhana spoke, her voice trembling:

Suhana: "The teachers didn't run away… they disappeared. Not like they left—like they vanished into thin air."

The moment she said that, the entire school fell quiet. Laughter slowly filled the air of the school.

A few people tried to joke:

Student 1: "Hey, did you not sleep last night or what?"

Student 2: "Come on, take out the camera—this is obviously a prank."

Ranjeet looked concerned.

Ranjeet: "Are you okay?"

Manoj snapped angrily:

Manoj: "Shut up, idiots. Try to understand how serious this is."

Himanshu spoke quietly:

Himanshu: "If you think all this is fake… then what about that translucent screen floating right in front of you?"

Everyone went silent.

Ranjeet muttered:

Ranjeet: "Could that be the time for the next attack?"

Sonal—the most senior among them—stepped forward.

Sonal: "Why are you all so sure the teachers disappeared instead of running away?"

Himanshu: "Because they vanished right in front of us… the moment the countdown hit zero."

Sonal frowned.

Sonal: "We didn't see that. No teacher came to class after the break—everything happened before anyone arrived."

Manoj held his head and said:

Manoj: "Because it was Physics period."

Everyone understood instantly.

If any teacher had been in class at that moment, it would've been him.

Most of them silently agreed—though the absurdity of it all still felt impossible to accept.

Then Kero spoke with sudden intensity:

Kero: "If you still have doubts, think about this—we're still here. The gate never opened. That means the teachers should still be inside the school. If you don't believe us, go search."

Sonal took a few students with her and searched again.

Same result.

Smiling faces slowly turned into fearful ones.

Everyone now insisted on leaving the school—getting home became the only priority.

Then Manoj remembered something.

He ran to the principal's cabin, found a spare key, and unlocked the gate.

What they saw outside froze them in place.

The entire road was burned black—like the remains of a coal mine.

A boy whispered in fear:

Student 3: "At least I can go home now… and hug my mom and dad."

Himanshu stared at the road, deep in thought—then silently prayed that what he was thinking wouldn't turn out to be true.
