Chapter 88 - Chapter 88 — Secrets in the Shadows

The captured shadow leader lay bound in a circle of lunar chains at the heart of Shadowfang territory. Its crimson eyes glimmered with restrained fury, and the dark energy surrounding it flickered and pulsed like a living heartbeat.

Nyra stood before it, silver aura bright and steady, her ancestral spirits whispering guidance. Kael was at her side, golden Alpha energy radiating, alert and ready. Fenrir observed quietly from the edges of the clearing.

"We need to understand it," Nyra said softly. "This isn't just a predator. It has intelligence… purpose. If we know its origins, we may predict its next move."

Kael's jaw tightened. "And if it refuses to cooperate?"

Nyra's silver eyes met his. "Then we find the answers elsewhere — in the forest, in history, in the Blood Moon itself."

The elders gathered, opening ancient scrolls and tomes that had survived centuries of Shadowfang history. Symbols, sketches of shadowy beasts, and fragmented prophecies covered the fragile pages.

"According to these records," Eryndor explained, "creatures like this shadow leader are remnants of the First Blood Moon — forces born from the moon's raw energy centuries ago. They were bound by ancient packs to maintain balance… until something unbound them. These beings are not mindless. They are guardians, punishers, and hunters rolled into one. And they seek to reclaim lost dominion."

Nyra's silver aura flared brighter. "So this isn't just a random attack. This… shadow leader has a mission. And it's coming here, to Shadowfang."

Fenrir's red eyes narrowed. "We've seen similar occurrences in northern territories. Entire packs wiped out. The First Blood Moon's forces are… selective. They awaken when power is concentrated — when the Blood Moon heirs are strong."

Kael's golden energy flickered. "So it's drawn to us. To you. To your Blood Moon power."

Nyra nodded slowly. "Yes… and that means Shadowfang is now a target. Not just for rival packs, but for forces older than any of us."

The shadow leader shifted in its bindings, energy rippling dangerously. It seemed to understand every word, and even restrained, its presence commanded fear. Nyra approached, silver chains humming softly.

"You are ancient," she said firmly. "Bound by old magic, yet here. Tell us… why have you come? Who commands you?"

The creature's voice echoed in her mind — not through sound, but raw, psychic energy:

"The Blood Moon rises. Shadows awaken. Balance must be restored… or all shall fall."

Nyra stepped back, pulse quickening. "Balance? It believes Shadowfang is a threat… or… a key."

Kael's hand rested on her shoulder. "Then we need to uncover what it means. Fast. And we need the pack ready — for whatever comes next."

The forest seemed to hold its breath, shadows flickering unnaturally as if listening. Nyra's ancestral spirits whispered urgently. Something ancient and vast was stirring beyond the horizon — something that would challenge Shadowfang's strength, unity, and the very Blood Moon itself.

Nyra's silver eyes hardened. "We've survived darkness before. This… this will be different. But Shadowfang will endure. And we will fight."

The shadow leader growled softly, its crimson eyes reflecting the full Blood Moon above, as if acknowledging the challenge it had found in Shadowfang — and hinting at the trials yet to come.
