The message did not arrive by messenger.
It arrived by shadow.
Just before dawn, the skies above the capital rippled with a sudden disturbance—clouds pulling apart as though something enormous had moved through them.
Guards along the outer walls of the Blackwood estate looked upward.
One of them whispered, "That's not a storm."
Above them, something vast circled once through the pale morning sky.
Then descended.
The Landing
The creature landed in the outer courtyard with a controlled impact that cracked several paving stones.
Wings the color of burnished steel folded slowly along its body. Its lion-like frame shifted as it settled, talons digging lightly into stone.
A Griffin.
The guards froze.
Not because they feared it.
Because creatures of the Beast World did not appear unannounced.
And they certainly did not land inside noble estates.
Upon the griffin's back stood a lone rider.
Tall.
Wrapped in layered travel armor decorated with bronze feathers and scaled leather.
Their cloak bore a crest unfamiliar to most of the household—but unmistakable to anyone who knew the politics of the Beast World.
The crest of the Beast Sovereign Council.
The rider dismounted smoothly.
Their boots struck the stone with quiet confidence.
"I request audience with House Blackwood."
The Household Reacts
Within minutes, the central hall filled.
Servants whispered in astonishment. Guards held disciplined lines along the walls.
At the far end of the hall stood Vincent and Melaina beside their mother.
Elara and Caelum remained slightly behind them.
Seris stood near one of the pillars, watching carefully.
The envoy entered without hesitation.
They removed their hood.
A woman in her early thirties, her eyes sharp and golden.
She bowed—not deeply, but respectfully.
"I am Kaelith of the High Clans," she said.
"Envoy of the Beast Sovereign Council."
Melaina tilted her head.
"Well this morning got interesting."
Vincent remained silent.
Why She Came
Kaelith's gaze moved between the twins.
"You awakened recently."
Vincent answered calmly.
"Yes."
"You wield Spirit."
"Yes."
Her expression tightened slightly.
"And you possess relic bloodlines from the Beast World."
Melaina glanced toward their aunt.
"That's her fault."
A faint smile touched Kaelith's lips.
"So I've been told."
She stepped forward.
"When the relic blood of Dragon, Phoenix, and Griffin was awakened within your house…"
She gestured toward the ceiling.
"…the Beast World noticed."
A Disturbance Across Realms
Seris spoke quietly.
"You felt the awakening."
Kaelith nodded.
"The Beast World is sensitive to bloodline resonance."
She looked at the twins again.
"What happened here created a signal that crossed the boundary between realms."
Melaina whistled softly.
"So we knocked on someone else's door."
"In a manner of speaking," Kaelith replied.
Vincent asked the question that mattered.
"Why does that concern the Beast Sovereign Council?"
Kaelith's golden eyes sharpened.
"Because bloodlines are not merely power."
"They are lineage."
"And lineage carries… obligations."
The Warning
Kaelith reached into her cloak.
She withdrew a small bronze medallion engraved with an ancient crest.
"This symbol marks emissaries who carry the authority of the Beast Sovereigns."
She placed it on the table between them.
"The awakening of combined relic bloodlines within Spirit wielders is extremely rare."
Seris folded her arms.
"How rare?"
Kaelith answered simply.
"Once before."
Silence fell.
Vincent asked quietly,
"What happened?"
Kaelith met his gaze.
"That individual destroyed three Beast Kingdoms."
Melaina blinked.
"…well."
"That escalated quickly."
The Purpose of the Envoy
Kaelith continued calmly.
"The Beast Sovereign Council does not believe you are that individual reborn."
"That would have been… unpleasant."
"But the resonance we sensed demanded investigation."
Caelum stepped forward slightly.
"So what happens now?"
Kaelith studied the twins again.
"Now?"
"We observe."
Melaina groaned.
"Great. Another group watching us."
Seris didn't disagree.
"The Veil is already doing that."
Kaelith nodded.
"Yes."
"We are aware."
Which meant the Beast World had been paying attention for longer than anyone realized.
Vincent's Question
Vincent stepped closer to the table.
"You crossed realms for observation alone?"
Kaelith smiled faintly.
"Partly."
She leaned slightly closer.
"But also to deliver a warning."
Melaina raised an eyebrow.
"Let me guess."
"More ancient history?"
Kaelith nodded.
"Yes."
"Spirit wielders and relic bloodlines do not merely attract attention."
"They awaken things."
Something Stirring
The room grew quiet again.
Vincent's voice remained steady.
"What things?"
Kaelith turned toward the courtyard doors.
Beyond them, the griffin waited patiently.
"Creatures older than kingdoms."
"Beasts that respond to bloodline authority."
"Entities that do not care about politics."
Melaina grinned.
"That sounds fun."
Caelum sighed.
"Please don't encourage ancient monsters."
The Invitation
Kaelith turned back to the twins.
"The Beast Sovereign Council has extended an invitation."
Vincent raised an eyebrow.
"For what purpose?"
"To visit the Beast World."
Melaina nearly bounced with excitement.
"Now that sounds interesting."
Seris immediately looked concerned.
"That would create diplomatic complications."
Kaelith shrugged.
"Perhaps."
"But ignoring bloodline resonance is rarely wise."
She placed the medallion into Vincent's hand.
"When you are ready, bring this to the border gate."
"The path will open."
After the Envoy Leaves
Kaelith departed as suddenly as she had arrived.
Her griffin launched into the sky with a thunderous beat of wings.
The courtyard slowly returned to silence.
Melaina leaned against the table.
"So."
"We woke up another world."
Caelum rubbed his temples.
"That's not usually considered a good sign."
Seris looked thoughtful.
"The Veil suspected Spirit would attract attention."
She glanced toward the sky where the griffin had vanished.
"We did not expect it this quickly."
Vincent studied the bronze medallion in his hand.
Elara spoke softly beside him.
"What are you thinking?"
Vincent answered simply.
"If the Beast World is watching…"
He closed his hand around the medallion.
"…then the board just became larger."
