Caspian's POV
Mara left.
I stayed.
The tent flap fell shut. The noise outside dulled into low murmurs.
Kiara lay there, bandaged up, breathing steady now. Not perfect yet.But steady.
I dragged a chair closer and dropped into it, elbows on my knees.
"Look at you," I muttered. "Sleeping so peacefully after yet again turning my world upside down… "
She didn't move.
Didn't smirk.
Didn't roll her eyes.
Didn't call me dramatic.
And that silence? That got me!
I leaned back, scrubbing a hand over my face.
God,we used to be so… normal.
I huffed a small sigh!
"You remember the first time you tried to shift in front of me?" I murmured. "All tough. All 'I don't need help.'"
She'd glared at me like I'd personally offended her bloodline.
"I know how to do this, Caspian! "
And I'd crossed my arms, smirking cuz I knew, even then, you were damn stubborn. "Sure you do."
And she did shift halfway ,only half way and then immediately face-planted into the dirt.
