Arin had always thought life in the quiet town of Eldoria was ordinary. School, homework, and lazy evenings—nothing extraordinary ever happened. That was, until the night he climbed into the attic.
Among dusty boxes and forgotten trinkets, he found it: a pendant glowing faintly beneath a tattered cloth. The chain was cold against his fingers, and the jewel at its center seemed almost alive.
"What… is this?" he whispered, brushing the dust off.
The moment he touched it, warmth surged through his veins. The air around him thickened. The attic seemed to hum with a soft, rhythmic beat, like a heartbeat calling out to him.
Arin stumbled back. "Okay… definitely weird."
He tried to put the pendant on his desk, but it slid across the wood on its own, glowing brighter with every movement. Suddenly, a vision flashed in his mind—a magnificent kingdom with towers of gold and silver, armies clashing in the streets, and a shadowy figure standing at the gates. Then came fire, destruction, and screams.
Arin gasped. "No… this can't be real."
A voice echoed, soft yet urgent:
"Heir… the kingdom awaits you…"
His heart raced. Voices didn't come from objects, right?
A loud thump downstairs made him jump. Someone—or something—was moving in the house.
"Mom? Dad?" Arin called, voice shaking. Only silence answered.
Clutching the pendant, he watched in disbelief as it flared with golden light, and a figure appeared from the shadows in the attic. Cloaked, towering, and impossible to ignore, it stepped forward.
"You're the one," the figure said, voice low but commanding. "The heir has been found."
Arin froze. "Heir… of what?"
The figure's eyes glowed faintly beneath the hood. "All will be revealed. But you have no time… they are coming."
Before Arin could speak, the shadow vanished, leaving only the glowing pendant and the deafening echo of his own heartbeat.
Outside, the wind howled. Far in the distance, a dark silhouette moved toward Eldoria, silent, relentless.
Arin's ordinary life was over. He didn't know what awaited him—but he knew one thing: nothing would ever be the same again.
