Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Chapter 4: Bitten by greed.

Elisa POV

Tears ran down my cheeks as I stared at her, unable to yell all the cursed words I wanted to. She stood there, gave me a little smirk, and walked out of my view, and downstairs like I wasn't anything.

"Babe?" He called her.

"Mr. Adrian?" Yes, I will call him. That's because he didn't deserve to be called a husband. He ran toward the door, but immediately his eyes met with mine.

A little frown pulled out, like he already hated my presence.

"You!" he sighed, ready to shun the door to my face, but I held it, blocking him.

"What?" His eyebrows, without a blink of emotion.

"Why? Her?" The tears dripping alone couldn't allow me to yell at him.

"How could you? What's that with her? Why didn't you wed her instead?" I smashed my hands on his chest and started hitting with every bit of energy in me. But those eyes I glanced at weren't the man who walked me to the aisle.

"Are you done?" He wriggled free and pushed my hands away, like he was so sick of me. He walked over to the bed, that same bed;

"You're so heartless." I yelled, tossed my head, almost stormed out

"Lock the door when you're out."

"What?"

"You're joking." Those words slipped out of my lips as I cursed beneath my breath. I sped up my legs and went straight to my room.

Immediately, my legs got inside, and I jumped on the bed and grabbed the blue pillow.

"I hate you!" I yelled as I smashed my hands on it, picturing his evil face.

"That bitch."

An hour had passed; not only did the sound of my phone keep buzzing, but that hated sound I hated of knocks.

"Who?" With a frown, I dragged my body off the bed and then toward the door.

"Yes?" My fingers rested on it, waiting for a response.

"Ma, someone is here for you."

"What do you mean?"

"Who?"

I never had any friends; who else would be here, in this hell of a house?

I fastened the door handle and opened it. She bowed her head, hands behind, while she waited.

"Take me there, now!" I commanded. She nodded and made space for me to move in front.

We walked through the hallway, tossing my head off the room; I just had the worst nightmare as we headed downstairs and then outside the mansion. The red car parked beside the trash can.

"What are you doing here?" I rushed to the car, and held the door handle, almost pulling it off.

"Sis, are you not happy with me?" She stepped out of the driver's seat and rested on the car, her hands wrapped around the car key.

"What are you planning this time?" I folded my arms, my legs tapped gently, with a killer look on my face.

"Easy," she chuckled, held her hands out to stop me.

"I'm all ears." my veins almost pumping out as I await her.

"It's about Dad."

"What are you ranting about?"

"It seemed you don't care about us anymore. Dad had been sick for days, and no, you didn't care to even ask about us." I watched her eyes, as it didn't blink.

"Where?" I clutched my chest as my heart skipped a beat.

"Hospital. But the hospital refused to admit him."

"Why?"

"Because of no money." She rolled her eyes at me with a hiss.

"What do you mean, no money?" I lashed out, unable to understand what she meant by that.

"Did you ever send money to us? After stealing my man from me." She rolled her eyes again at me before closing the car door.

"Send the location now!" I yelled. She glanced at me, then sighed, brought her phone out, and sent the location; my phone buzzed.

Throughout the journey, my hands kept on tapping at the steering wheel, as a lot of thoughts rang through.

"What happened to Dad?"

"Is he okay?"

"Watch out!" A man in front of my car yelled as he waved with anger. His hand tightened, ready to deal with me. I bowed a little while he walked across the road, and then I drove faster to the front.

Almost fifty minutes later, I packed in the hospital parking space, as I hesitated, got up, and smashed the door faster, then went inside the hospital.

I inhaled the fresh scent of medicine that threw me into the sick world. Those ones I hated the most; I stared there, eyes perching at each room I could fetch on.

"Excuse me," My shoulder got tapped, and as I turned, only to glance at an average-height nurse as she wore her blue scrub and held a file.

"Yes, I'm sorry. I'm looking for David William, a patient here." I scratched my hair a little as she scanned me, then made a hand sign to follow her.

We walked through the counter as two ladies stood there, busy checking the screen in front of them. She had a little discussion with them while I laid my body on the table, waiting for a response.

"I'm sorry, Ma. No patient with such a name."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm sorry," she tossed her head, like she was in a pity form.

This can't be true.

I stood there, almost five minutes, recalling what I just heard. As quickly as I could, I tugged my phone and dialed Mom.

"Yes?" with a rude tone and a sigh that brought me more concern.

"Where?"

"I'll meet you there; hold on."

Before my lips could slip open, she hung the call, leaving me speechless. A few minutes later, Mom strode from the corridor that separated the operation rooms from the patients' room.

"Where have you been?" Immediately, we became closer, she yelled.

"What do you mean? What about Dad?" I shunned her quickly.

"The doctor refused to take any treatment on him until we made a deposit." she avoided my eyes, as she pinched her fingers.

"Can I meet him?"

"Are you dumb?" she barked.

"You can't until you make payment." She raised her eyebrows, eyes rolling at me. Eyes perched at me as patients stared at us.

"How much?"

"Now you're talking. Only 25k dollars." She tugged a smile while folding her hands.

"What do you mean? That's huge." They can't be serious, such an amount.

"It seemed you hate your dad. Now, you're showing it here, you're heartless." She moved a little, ready to take a step back to the corridor.

"Mom, I'm sorry."

After I had transferred the money to her. She smiled and walked me through the corridor and then to the room. With tears that dripped down my hot cheeks, I slid the door open, only to meet the empty bed, well arranged.

"Are you serious now?" I turned to her, as she clutched her mouth, veins pumping out, until she burst out laughing.

"What's going on?" I lashed out.

Who did they think I was?

To joke around about Dad's health, and now this?

I can't take this, not after everything.

"You mean your dad?" Emily's voice sparked through the room as she walked inside. Her hands were folded together with her mini handbag, as with her clothes, she had changed.

"You all must be insane." I yelled, grabbed my handbag, and rushed to my car as the laughter echoed through the room.

The journey was like hell for me; each air that slashed through my skin pulled out some pains from inside me.

Those laughters, those devils.

Dad picked them up from trash, and now this is what he got in return.

Immediately, my car got parked in front of the compound gate. I rushed outside, leaving my car door open, and then ran inside the house. The big gate had already opened, with no one inside.

"Dad…"

"I'm home."

"Where are you?"

I moved through the parlor as the memories pierced through my mind—those hurtful things Mom did to me, all that. I held my breath while I walked through the hallway. The walls became cold, like they didn't recognize me, not even a bit.

"El…"

Dad's voice pumped from his room. Without any further thoughts, I rushed over there, opened the door, only to…

"Dad…"
