Leon's Pov
By the time I got home, I was exhausted.
I loosened my tie as I walked into the house, already replaying the meeting in my head.
The unbearable and slightly stupid questions, the look, the way they tried to say things without actually saying them.
One of the board members even took me to the corner for what he described as a friendly advice. He said it was best to distance myself from her, and that a pretty girl isn't worth loosing my career over.
His words annoyed me, but I couldn't say anything, not yet. I hated that.
I let out a quiet scoff and walked straight into the kitchen.
"Unbelievable," I muttered under my breath.
I opened the cabinet and grabbed a glass, setting it down harder than I intended. The sound echoed slightly in the quiet space.
"They think they can just—" I stopped myself and shook my head.
There was no point finishing that sentence, I already knew what they thought.
That Ava was a problem.
That she was affecting the company.
